True life over here in Nashville.
Maybe you should make one about network users. they would all be licking windows and mouth breathing.

We got pizza and beer! Well, pizza and soda but close enough. Well not remotely close enough but still awesome

What they actually don't do: Read directions.

Damn, what's the address again? Ha. I honestly didn't know there was such a day until today.

Thank them for their countless keyboard hours and relentless pursuit of Compliance

I envy IT jobs only because if you're good at them, you can do all sorts of other jobs while doing your IT job.

True story: we were highly considering relocating to Nashville, especially after I caught a whiff of average senior sysad pay vs cost of living

If everyone followed directions, there'd be no problems

Yeah, this is my first job out of the Marine Corps, so mid-entry level isn't terrible and I think things will change in that department after the year ends.

True dat; it is nice! Until your boss / other department bosses / VPs get wind of your added skills. Then it's all random emails saying "Hey I heard you do [insert language here that you used to be decent in but has fallen by the wayside] so here's a project we need done in two weeks. Also, can you come over to my house and install my home theater and Polycom?"

Nice. We have an office in Brentwood, so I guess there's always a possibility of transfer at some time

This is true. If you're good you will automate most things, and have a lot of free time. Either I was never good, or I didn't have time to setup the automation.

Or you could ya know, hook a brother up with an interview.....jk man, but ya know if they are looking...but damn I do actually love my new job, I've only been here since March, moved up from Memphis. Wife's company relocated which opened up my chances at getting a good job. 10 years experience, CCNA, A+, CompTIA certs for various stuff, MS server 08-10 etc. I did accept the first offer though and the company is really nice, takes care of their people, pays decent, allows me to Oppo and Jalop all day between assisting users and doing updates. Can't complain, unless I got a crazy offer.

I don't even know what they do in that office, except that it's IT related and probably has more to do wth SQL than anything else

I'm SysAdmin-ing this beast today.
We also got a free lunch, but so did everyone else in the State Emergency Operations Center.

Wildfires here in WA.

They even brought in the fire tanker DC-10s to fight it.

It is. We've got everything but a toilet inside. 2 TVs with satellite packages, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and all of our comm stuff.

I am from BC so I know how serious wild fires can be. Good luck!

I left Nashville to go to Leavenworth as a sysadmin, about a month ago. I would've stayed in Nashville, but all the positions I got hounded about were helldesk jobs that paid less than the one I was on.
