Thought I finally found my place in Austin, and then some lady from New York with a trust fund scooped it. Oh well. Good news though? My Parents okayed me getting a motorcycle!

Oofh, apt hunting in Austin. If you don't need to much space, 1 room in a 3 bdrm apt close to DT can be had for ~425. They even allow fish! And sometimes have decent gyms! And a lot of them have cool weekly complex hangouts!

Oh no no no no no, bless yo' heart, no. I pretty much had to write a deposit on-site after deeming "okay, it has nice hardwoods and a carport - it'll do." A beige Prius pulled up to tour it as I was writing the check. "No! Miiiiiine!"

I think the vacancy rate I last saw was 2%? Yeah—have your deposit ready. If you have time to wait it out for just the right thing, cool, but you may be looking for a while.
