Got to ride in a GTO today

A friend of a friend just got this blue beauty and stopped by so I could check it out. I didn't get a chance to drive it, because beers, but he was cool enough to take me along for a drive. I'm away on vacation, so it was great to get a chance to see it while I was up here.

It's an 04, but it's got an '05 hood. The Goat also had an intake, exhaust, and headers on it. Oh the noise! We may or may not have hit 70mph in second gear.

A few things here and there bugged me, like the paint peeling around the door handles and fuel door, trim pieces peeling in the interior, and the paint was wearing off on some of the wheels. This car was still in awesome shape for being ten years old and it's the color i'd get when I get one some day. It had a plaque on the console that said there where only 478 GTO's built in 2004 in that color.

I had a pretty good week of car spotting, and I've still got to share what I saw at the Saratoga Auto Museum.

I drove one once. Sad that it was an auto, but the guy who owned it went in for something else, and ended up liking it so much he bought the showroom model.

It had winter tires on it, so I was mildly disappointed by the traction, but at the same time, the slushbox wasn't really letting me break it loose. I tried (but not too hard) to make it step out of line, and it was pretty obedient.

yeah, I definitely wasn't trying hard enough...that whole, residential area thing with lots of cops..

Sounds like it was a Impulse Blue Metallic outside, Bermuda Blue inside, six speed manual. That's what they made 478 of in 2004, and the exact car that I was looking for when I was GTO shopping.

As a coincidink, I had a female in my today, first time she's ridden in it, and I also may or may not have hit 70mph in second gear.

04 still had the ls1 right? The ls1 and t56 combo is amazing.. if thats the 6 spd and he doesnt have a pro 5.0 or mgw short shifter yet he is missing out big time
