Noice!

Antique? I don't think it is that old.

Be careful with that 4+3... It tends to be... a pain in the ass when it breaks lol

More than 25 years old here in Virginia qualifies.
![]() 07/18/2014 at 15:48 |

Wait, you got a C4?
![]() 07/18/2014 at 15:48 |

Just yesterday I saw a Silverado that was as old as me with collector plates.

It'll be 30 soon! No registration fees if it's 25+ and registered as an antique.

Haha yeah... It's a pain in the ass all the time, but that's half the fun of it. It adds a bit of character (lame excuse) but it is rebuilt and it's a fine gearbox if the OD unit is maintained as an AT and you clutch in for OD engagement. I kinda like it, kinda don't...

Wisconsin It is collector not antique. I think that is more correct.

"I'm testing the vehicle officer"

Quick question: can you get a vanity antique plate in VA?
![]() 07/18/2014 at 15:52 |
|
In WI they are collectors not antiques. I think collector is a better term.
![]() 07/18/2014 at 15:53 |
|
Yes! It's been a while since I bought it but I haven't driven it, so sometimes I ask myself the same question...
![]() 07/18/2014 at 15:56 |
|
You can, but they must be yellow and you have to pay the $20/year so it kind of defeats the purpose I think. The last plates were yellow and didn't go as well with red.

Word of warning with antique tags...NEVER park in a metro lot if you're up in NOVA. They'll ticket you (and it's a misdemeanor, not just a traffic citation) as well as pull the registration for a number of years. Happened to a couple guys here at work last summer
![]() 07/18/2014 at 15:57 |
|
Definitely. "Antique" makes me think of some furniture I can't sit on/use haha
![]() 07/18/2014 at 15:59 |

I heard about the punishment, but I didn't know about metro lots. Thanks for the advice, I'm always in NOVA!

The testing just simulates driving beyond the rules of an antique car!

Same here. Or some old butter churn that a crazy old lady still uses.

Now just need noice weather or noice AC and a noice road
![]() 07/18/2014 at 16:13 |

Or just some cocaine.
![]() 07/18/2014 at 16:25 |
|
whats the reasoning for that?
![]() 07/18/2014 at 16:27 |

Oh wait, I'm thinking of someone else with a similar name who wants a C4. He has a sonic, but I can remember his name. I think it's jayhawk, not sure though.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
If you plan to use your antique vehicle or trailer solely as a collector's item, you may register your vehicle with antique license plates or permanent vintage license plates.
Registering your vehicle either of these ways limits your use of the vehicle to:
Participation in antique car club activities, exhibits, tours, parades, and similar events.
Testing its operation, obtaining repairs or maintenance, selling the vehicle or trailer, transportation to and from events as described in number 1 above and for the occasional pleasure driving not to exceed 250 miles from your residence.
Carrying or transporting passengers, personal effects or other antique motor vehicles being transported for show purposes.
You may not use your vehicle for general, daily transportation. This includes, but is not limited to, driving to and from work.
In Jersey they typically do not care about historic plated cars and how they are used. In VA it appears that they do. The "pleasure driving" clause may require you to be driving the car but I'm speculating on that.

The antique tags are issued for show and pleasure use only. There's restrictions on using them. You cannot use the car to run errands, go to work, as a commercial vehicle, etc. The metro police are aware and have nothing better to do than walk around and give tickets for expired tags, expired inspections, antique plate violations, etc.
You can register the car regularly and drive with no restrictions but then you have to pay the yearly fee and get it inspected.
However, outside of metro police, I have never once heard of anyone enforcing the antique tags and I see a lot of so tagged 80s F150s and such being used as work vehicles.

It has to be hidden in there somewhere!

With pop up headlights it's pretty much guaranteed.

Very interesting, I need to move to VA when the land cruiser turns 25.

I currently have the yellow don't tread on me plates. They look alright, but I still I could just run a black plate + no front.
