My Jeep had a misfire. I fixed it. Lot's of carbon in the distributor cap made it more angry than necessary. I'll be honest, I'm actually kinda embarrassed at how long it took me to fix this. I think it's been acting up for over a year. It really just caused problems climbing hills in a head-wind. Now it runs like, well, like a quarter-million-mile Jeep.

Now, about all those fluid leaks...

I had the same thing with my g/f's MR2. Had a tiny stumble when pulled out of winter storage, pulled the cap then and saw no obvious problem. Stumble kept getting worse despite new plugs and other fiddling. Finally 1.5 years later a mechanic friend looked at it, pulled the cap again and the inside was coated in oil from a bad distributor gasket. When I'd looked the first time there was too little to see clearly, and I never thought to check it again. New cap, gasket & wires and it ran like brand new. Sold it the next day.

Fixing fluid leaks in an XJ? Good luck.

Also, Renix or HO?

It's HO. And yeah, it seems like you plug one leak and 2 more spring up! It might just have to keep bleeding awesome...

Damnit, Toyota!

Now that I think of it, I believe Honda D and/or B engines played that game too...
