This is OFFICIAL! :D
2015 MY:
2.3L EcoBoost — 310 HP / 320 LB-FT
3.7L V6 — 300 HP / 280 LB-FT
5.0L V8 — 435 HP / 400 LB-FT
2014 MY:
3.7L V6 - 305 HP / 280 LB-FT
5.0L V8 - 420 HP / 390 LB-FT
Not much of a change for the V6, which actually loses 5HP and gains no torque increase. The V8, on the other hand, gets 15HP more and 10LB-FT. Ecoboost fits right in between.
These are the actual numbers! What do you think Oppo?

Oh and obligatory:

My version of OF HAPPENINGS.
Honestly though I heard the EcoBoost Mustang running at work today. It sounded terrible.
I hope there's some exhaust companies already working on this issue.

ME TOO!
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:12 |
|
Wasn't the V6 power loss due to the change from dual to single exhaust?
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:13 |
|
How terrible is terrible?? Does it sound better or worse than my ST with the FRPP Exhaust?
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:14 |

They changed the exhaust setup?? I had no idea..

I mainly just heard it at idle, but it makes your Focus sound like a freaking race car
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:22 |
|
>_> are you stalking me?
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:25 |
|
So, are you implying that the Ecoboost, stock for stock, will be faster than the 5.0?
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:26 |
|
Oh god no.... :(
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:26 |
|
Ummm......Yes.
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:27 |

If I'm just comparing idle vs idle, your Focus is sincerely epic in comparison.
I wish I was wrong.
And the Guard Metallic isn't as Green as I thought it was when you see it in person.

Absolutely!

Thanks. Aftermarket better correct this immediately, I can imagine this as the first complaint of any Mustang enthusiast that buys the Ecoboost..
It's always looked a bit gunmetal like in pictures. Is that the case here? If so, Competition Orange all the way!
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:30 |

I was assuming it was just a number shuffle to distinguish the Ecoboost a little more. Its probably got the same real-world output as MY'14

Damn kids.
Stay off my lawn while you're at it.

I'll take the proper Mustang.
The one with the glorious V8 and three pedals. Guard paint, Performance Package and Recaros. $37k

I wouldn't be surprised if the output of the V6 is actually what they say it is, but yeah; detuned or not, they had to make room for the Ecoboost somehow.
I'm sure the V6 will eventually disappear, and the Ecoboost will be the entry-level model. That seems like a good plan; the base model gets quite a bit more torque, and the GT guys will still be able to look down their noses at the 4-cylinder folks. Keeps everyone happy.

Meme sarcasm: I just can't do it right...
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:37 |
|
yea more gray/gunmetal.
I still like it but it's just not quite as cool as I thought it would be.
I'm sure aftermarket will be on it, but I swear everytime I turn around I'm a little more disappointed in the EcoBoost.
There was a possibility that it had ALL GT LEVEL SUSPENSION/BRAKES at one point. And that flopped.

|
Y U DO DIS FORD??? :(
![]() 07/17/2014 at 13:49 |
|
...aaaand I'm sure that the GT will be exempt from Z-plan pricing when I'm on the prowl for a new car.

Most likely..
![]() 07/17/2014 at 14:19 |
|
I'd like to see the curves side by side, maybe they tuned it for more usable power?

The person who made the decision to drop those equipment results deserves a shovel to the head:
![]() 07/17/2014 at 15:01 |

No....
They deserve much worse
![]() 07/17/2014 at 15:04 |

lol
Man I was originally so psyched for the EcoBoost. I'm telling you, just keeps fading.
![]() 07/17/2014 at 15:07 |
|
You're telling me. I want that V6 then. I knew I always preferred naturally aspirated horsepower for a reason.
But I can't because Ford stripped them of every single option they could've had. SCREW YOU ECOBOOST!!
![]() 07/17/2014 at 15:54 |
|
honestly 40 lb ft of torque and 10 hp isn't enough to get my to buy the EcoBoost.
I'd rather have the less complicated V6.
![]() 07/17/2014 at 15:57 |
|
Agreed. I'll go get the bolt-ons.
![]() 07/17/2014 at 15:58 |
|
Exactly. A good set of tires and a bolt on or two and you're in better shape anyhow.
![]() 07/17/2014 at 16:00 |
|
It's not that hard, or it shouldn't be to make the V6 better than the Ecoboost for like $1-2000!
![]() 07/17/2014 at 16:01 |
|
yep I agree.
And if you REALLY want all those GT components, like it's brakes and everything, you could very easily swap them onto the car, not cheaply, but easily.
![]() 07/17/2014 at 16:03 |
|
Precisely! Or maybe even better ones than the GT; if there are any.
![]() 07/17/2014 at 16:18 |
|
I'm sure there will be an upgrade by someone
![]() 07/18/2014 at 02:15 |
|
Meh. The power is partially offset by the additional weight. I doubt there will be any noticeable difference in performance.
![]() 07/21/2014 at 13:22 |

The EcoBoost has more HP than the 3.7? Weird.
