Would you buy an AR with WiFi, USB ports, IR tracking, Laser Rangefinder, Low Light Filter, Compass, Microphone, Barometer, Thermometer, and a Smart Trigger? Its probably OBDII and Can-Bus ready...For Vag-Com users this is a legal firearm and not an assault rifle. We support Gun Control, and adding a targeting computer is the best way to control any gun.

I feel like all of that stuff is just more "tactikool" add ons. People end up spending more money on accessories than their weapon. IMO, they should have just spent more money becoming a better marksman.

I once heard some story about why the AK is the most popular war weapon on the planet. Some grunts or other (I seem to recall somewhere in Africa) were taking cover in a marsh during a firefight, running out of ammo. One was tripped by something tangled round his leg. Reaching down to remove it, he found it wasn't a creeper or root, it was the sling of an AK that must have been dropped the last time the war came through that way, several (5+) years previously. He pulled it up, aimed (or not, because it was an AK), pulled the trigger, and the gun fired.
That story's probably apocryphal, but it does illustrate the reason the AK's been so incredibly successful. Having better weaponry is all very well, but only if it's going to work - which is one reason why combat troops still commonly carry knives. (Another reason is of course because they're generally useful, but that doesn't suit my argument.)
So what I really want to know is how well that thing will stand up to abuse. Like many weapons it might be really useful in a carefully structured scenario, but have fatal limitations if unsupported.

Here's a question for you... Would you pull the trigger on a gun that has been sitting out in the dirt for the last (5+) years?

Under the circumstances in the story I read, yes. If I didn't put the level of desperation across properly, my error. In normal circumstances, no, that's what friends are for.

my weapon will have a proprietary (if not completely custom) input.

Not to that level. My rifle has an Eotech, but only because it takes AAs and its armor plated. That and I can still access iron sights with it. Too many addons adds weight, and an over reliance can be a crutch.
