Remember the surprise announcement that the fia want to ban interconnected (FRIC) suspension*?
I, like many are a bit mystified why they wanted them banned. On the surface it seems to be a blunt way of stopping the richer teams from getting an advantage? It's a pity though - all the teams are saying they give little advantage ,and it would be a shame to miss out on the development of this kind of tech for road cars!Mclaren use it on their road cars and get great compliments for their ride/handling.
The really bad part about all this? The fia cant ban it without a unanimous vote from all teams. So what do they do instead? They're going back to the dark days of max mosely's dodgy legal threats! You see,the fia CAN allow protests from teams that dont have FRIC,meaning anyone who dares run it is at risk of being hauled before the stewards and having their points revoked (or something incredibly dodgy like that.I really dont understand it fully).I hate this game the fia play,i HATE it!!
So far three top teams have said they will remove FRIC,while force India have stated they will run it as usual because they think the risk of someone protesting is zero.So some teams may gain an advantage from this screwup while others are disadvantaged, all done with dubious threats.sigh
Have some detroit diesel music for your trouble
*For those that have little idea what interconnected suspensions do ,their main purpose is to try to keep the car more level so the aero works consistantly.Basically they work alot like rollbars, except with less compromise. And unlike rollbars they can also be used between front and rear suspensions to fight braking dive and acceleration squat.

Are you saying that the FIA wants to ban technology that may trickle down to road cars? Never!

FIA is plenty of reason to hate the French...
