I remember that my 2003 P5 was notorious for consuming bulbs, started like at 6 months.

Is it the one you had to get the hood replaced because of rust ?

Mazda will only fix it if the bugs are spiders.

NEVAR! I don't have the chrome style that was known to rub the paint on the corners of the moulding.

Here's a pic of the MASSIVE HOOD RUST I had fixed under warranty, cause I figured you'd like to see it.

Every time I see a Mazda 3 or Mazda 6, they all have rust in the same places. On the 3 it's the 3rd brake light and fenders, and on the 6 it's the mazda logo on the trunk lid, and the fenders.

Sure they are fun to drive when new, but they don't stay new long.

My Mazda protegé5 was eating light bulbs, tires, brakes, and basically everything electronic. Loved my protegé5 for the first year, hated it for the next 5.

Yeah not good. I am sure it is also skewed by the fact that Jalop readers favorite enthusiasts cars like Mazdas and are also particular about their cars. Not many people on here posting about their terrible Chevy Aveo stories.

That's because all Aveo driving Jalops were forced to commit sepuku in 2011.

I guess anywhere from NYC and up isn't Mazda friendly territory

Also because Jalopnik isn't running BS articles about the greatness of the Aveo.

Let's see. I've had my 2008 Mazda3 since August 2009. Bought with 12,200 miles. Currently has 66,500. In 2011, my passenger side upper motor mount began leaking fluid. My friend and I replaced it in fifteen minutes.

Other problems...let's see. Hmm. Haven't had any. Yes, that's right. NO problems. I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience with Mazda, but I promise they aren't all possessed shitboxes. At least, mine isn't. Nor is my wife's. She drives a 2013 Mazda CX-5 Sport. Bought December 2012 with 6 miles, currently has 17,000. Zero issues. Ever.

Oh, and as for rust, just took a crawl under my car while detailing it today. There's some slight surface rust towards the rear, but everything is still solid. No rust anywhere else. And, its been through each winter non-stop. I don't have another car I can drive when the snow flies.

My friend, Tiffany, also drives a 2004 Mazda6 i Sport with 300,000 miles. Yes, 300,000. And she bought hers brand new. She drives it every winter as well. No rust to speak of. Also, what problems has she had? Well, I know the clutch was replaced. And I know her factory Bose amp died in 2008-ish. That's all.

I may be "blinded" by my love of these cars, but that's fine. As long as they treat me right, I'll hold onto them. That's my philosophy. Car acts right, keep it. Car starts being a POS, dump it. That's why my wife's 2006 Chevy Malibu got traded in for the CX-5. And, that's why my next car will also be a Mazda (hoping for a 2009+ Mazda6 Grand Touring with the V6).
