Why would you buy a Bentley Continental GT? The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe

Dat ass. Dat profile. Dat interior. Dat everything . I need this car!

i fully intend on getting one in the next 5 years.

That ass and that interior just motivated me to move up a tax bracket.

Because at that point, I would be very tempted to get this:

I'm sure it'll cost at least as much as a loaded Hyundai Sonata after 5 years. Still, it's one of the only luxury cars I really want.

I like everything except this whole dash, including the digital gauges, the center stack, and that massive expanse of blank nothing.

And it looks like a sculpture. And the cabin? I would never get out of it. Ever. What a car.

The center console looks big enough for to sleep on top of it. It doesn't even have lever lever making this impossible.
Why does big luxury coupe have annoyingly bright yellow (maybe gold?) brake calipers seeking attention? They look really silly when the rest of the car doesn't have any colored parts except the rear lights.
I'd rather have all W126 coupes that are for sale in Scandinavia as that would probably be cheaper.

Honestly the HP and torque numbers are the least impressive part of this car.
They've had this much power (well, 611hp iirc) for a decade now. Its time to bump it up to 700hp & 800lbtq.

Lol Daimler still doesn't have a Gearbox that can handle the full power of the M279 without blowing up.

Torque: 1.0 tons

I love how Aston Martins look, but that's all they really have going for them at the moment. Everything under the skin is rather outdated, from the engines, to the transmission options, and especially to the quite dated VH chassis architecture.
I can't wait to see their next-gen stuff in the next year or two. Then the insides should match the beauty of the outside.

I've never liked Mercs, and I still don't like this one.
I also don't understand the point of a car like this or the Bentley Continental. If you want a giant luxury car, why wouldn't you just get a sedan? If you want a sports coupe, why would you get something so heavy?

Which is why they had the 5spd forever. Doesn't seem very mercedes-ish to engineer as awesome engine, then not have other parts of the car be good enough to support it.

True. The gearboxes seem to be a weak spot of modern Mercedes's.

WHY YELLOW CALPERS
Res was enough. Red was right. Red was ALL WE NEEDED
![]() 07/14/2014 at 09:54 |

yellow signify carbon ceramic brakes. Red are the optional standard caliper color.

because having this kind of money and taste means you don't need practical. Why buy the RR Wraith when you could get its sedan counterpart? These are personal luxury coupes. Nothing on the market is more lavish than this sort of car.

Yes, but what if I wanted my 2 door Mercedes to look classy?
![]() 07/14/2014 at 10:12 |

you can get red calipers per the Mercedes-benz.de konfigurator

I guess I just don't understand the appeal

The Vanquish is also 3800lbs, all carbon fiber, and a proper sports car. I like the S65, but it seems too much caught in the middle between sports car and luxury sedan. Then there's the whole 4500+ lb curb weight. It's the closest thing to a modern day Chrysler Imperial (both coupe and sedan), in my mind.

I would never compare the Vanquish to any S-vehicle, but if given the money, I also wouldn't buy any Aston Martin until they get their next generation vehicle architecture and engines out and ready.
