proof that you don't need a crossover or big-for-no-reason truck thing. And when I say kids, I mean car-seat-age kids.
Shit, it's like the singles buy the sedans and the families opt for the coupes! Totally the opposite of what you'd expect!

I've known a family of 5 that always had a 94 Civic. They bought it new, and they used it until 2010, when it got "totaled" by a knucklehead backing into it and speeding off. Probably needed $500 in parts too.
They replaced it with a 2010 Civic coupe, but that one got wrecked too after a year, and now have another of the same year.

Do you see those families heading on a trip, or just putting around town? My wife, our 4-month old son, and I are on a 5-day trip right now and we barely fit everything into our 2004 Envoy. There's no way in hell we'd be able to fit everything into our mk5 Jetta.
Mind you, we pretty much packed only the essentials and didn't even have to bring the pack n play this time.

I have two kids and drive an Abarth. Our family car is a 335d. I tried to get my ife to go with a 1-series but it was a no go. Getting a kid out f a rear facing seat in a two door is a pain in the ass. Especially when it's 115F outside.

We had an Acura TL when my son was born. About 2 weeks later we finally left the house for the first time. His grand parents rode with us, and by the time we left all 5 seats were occupied. The stroller, diaper bag, etc filled the ENTIRE trunk. We got an SUV 2 weeks afterwards.

I was in Europe this past winter and those 120d's were everywhere. So awesome. She loves hatchbacks, and would have picked up a 328i wagon but we couldn't find one we wanted.

I two door my little family every day :D
only sacrifice I had to make was getting some front seats that recline to replace my solid backed seats.
