The HPD CRZ is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! but this is the first time I have seen it displayed loud and proud on Honda's actual website. It gives me hope that maybe one day Honda will sell these to the public.

186-198 HP isn't much nowadays for what is likely a 2800 lb car. The BRZ manages to do more power and less weight than that, AND is RWD. It doesn't even have the pretensions of fuel economy either, despite its reduced weight.
In order for it to be a worthy successor, they need to find a way to get it down to the 2300lb range.

You're right. It is a more worthy successor. Compared to a stock, hybrid CRZ, this thing is a whole lot better.

A CRX successor should care about fuel economy, one of the things that made the CRX great was how cheap it was to run. Don't forget about the CRX HF which got 50+MPG

The CRX was never a sports car. It had like 90 hp

The CRZ weighs in at 2500lbs. I can't imagine a supercharger adds 300 lbs. Plus the shorter wheelbase of the CRZ means it handles livlier and rotates easier through turns, pretty much negating the FWD/RWD difference.

No they don't. That's an absolutely ridiculous expectation. All Honda needs to do is emulate the driving feel.

Going off of the US spec wikipedia entry, I saw 2800 lbs.

In US Spec, it could be had for 1900lbs and 130 HP, and even more power in the euro-spec Si version, giving it better power-to-weight than most sports cars on the market at the time. Not necessarily a sportscar, but it felt great to drive because of how insanely light it was.

It would be nearly impossible the emulate the driving feel of a car 60% lighter with a 5 inch shorter wheelbase without dropping some weight first. Adding a supercharger and better fuel economy will not make this car feel more like a worthy successor to the CR-X.
They would have to re-engineer the whole car from the ground up, but Honda seems convinced that "small" cars don't sell anymore. Even the Civic seems to be trying to be a bigger car than it really is.

It's a step in the right direction, but I think less power and less weight is the direction they need to go, not more power and more weight.

It's very much possible. If Chrysler can make a behemoth like the latest 300 feel much smaller than the 5,000 lbs that it weighs in the twisties so can Honda.
And I gotta' ask. Have you driven both a CR-X and a CR-Z?

C&D listed the curb weight for a 2011 EX manual as 26xx

Definitely, but you're not getting a 1,900lb car nowadays. I wasn't 1,900lbs because they were trying to cut weight, it was 1,900 lbs because governments didn't care if people were crushed in their cars.
