wow I'm pretty happy with the results. Just a whole bunch of sanding and some polyurethane. Are how long it's lasts.
^first sand
^as I pulled them off the car
^clean
^reassembled (mostly)

Nice, I usually just use rubbing compound or a scratch remover. There are all these kits that are a waste of money. You wet-sanded the headlight?

So sprayed them?
I did this to my lights a little bit ago, used proper two part automotive clearcoat, so they should last as long as the paint on the car. My friends wouldn't believe me that they would ever look clear again once I started wet sanding them, should have seen the look on their faces when I came out of the garage with them once they were all purty again.

Next time, use protection. It seems your car has an STI.

Waiting to clear for the polyurethane to bake first. But yea 400 to 2000 in increments changing direction for each grit. Was debating throwing laminex on there

yup. Mine were too far gone. Wet sanded from 400 to 2000 in increments and changing direction each grit. Then a polyurethane coating. Need to look into either clear coating or laminex

I desperately need to sand my headlights. They're almost dangerously yellowed. What's the name of the stuff you used?

A lot of people have posted great results using Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane ( http://m.homedepot.com/p/Minwax-Helms… ).
Mix it as one part urethane and one part water. Wet sand the headlight starting at 400/600 and slowly moving up to 2000/3000 to finish. Then polish with plastx or whitening toothpaste (this really works). Clean with isopropyl alcohol, let dry, and apply urethane mixture.
I've done this for a friend a few years ago and they still look brand new. The urethane is very UV resistant so it should last just as long as the factory coatings.

I wish they still made lenses out of glass. I honestly think plastic is a hazard when it fogs up.

Either rubbing compound or scratch remover. Just got to an auto store and buy one of these, preferably the best scratch remover. Then take an old t-shirt and start buffing. It will take a few times, and then just clean with water. Here's a video telling you everything you need to know.

Oh hell yes, I know this guy. Ive seen some of his videos. And the car used for the example, is pretty much what I had in mind, thanks quite a lot!

That's interesting. I would never have thought to use something like that(I use that product on teak for boats all the time). I just pulled my headlights and sanded them with 400 to get all the crappy plastic off and get into the good clear stuff, then wetsanded with 1000 grit. Sprayed 3(or 4?) coats of PPG 2 part automotive clearcoat and called it a day. I got a few pieces of debris in it, and there's a slight bit of orange peel, that could be taken care of with a tad bit of wetsanding and buffing, but you can't really see it from more that a few feet away so I haven't bothered.
