So, I like !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! quite a bit, and due to recent events that are good, will probably be able to afford it. Does anyone on oppo have any seat time in the premiums? I wanna know how comfy/ well put together you guys found it?

I had a 2011 GT C/S Premium and my 2010 was a Premium too. They're pretty comfortable, and that was the GT which has a bit tighter suspension (so a little bumpier ride). I'm a fan of the latest Mustang interiors, much better than the earlier 2000s I had. Gaps are tighter, seats are more comfortable, etc.
For $24K couldn't get you get a year or two old GT?

You could almost buy a C6 for that money, you should definitely look at used offerings before pulling the trigger. But, at least it's a manual.

I could, but you see this would be my first car that's mine. Being 16, I kind of can't ask mom for a 420 horsepower rocketship of a muscle car. Plus, I don't want the 420 horses! I can't manage that in just RWD form yet!

Oh dear God, no. Disregard what I said. Run! I had 125hp in my first car and flipped it in the first month. My last Mustang was probably the fastest car I've owned and it can definitely get you into trouble.

don't worry, I plan on babying the car. I say I can't ask mom for it, but it's actually mostly my savings that's going in to it. I'm paying for it, so I don't want to total it! so yeah, good car then? also, how tall are you, and are you comfortable in it?

I know, but like I said to thedriver, i'm 16, this is my first car, and It's about as fast as I want it too be. I'm not confident I can handle more yet. actually no, I know I can't handle more yet!

Great car, one of my favorites. I'm 6'0 even, pretty comfy.
Although, and this is the 37 year old in me coming out, why not get an older one and save some money for something else? I say that spending a LOT of money on cars most of my life so I'm not one to talk.

It's an auto, though. I thought we hated those around here. (I'm okay with them)

You're a 16 year old that saved up $20K? Forgive me If I don't belive you unless your parents give you a hundred dollar allowance. Also sixxers are boring. Get a latter year 05-10 GT. You pay more for gas but the car is literally one of the best sports cars you can get for under 20 grand and twice as fun to drive compared to a 3.7. The 4.6 is pretty tame from the factory because of lower compression and the high ride but that's where the fun of modding starts. Plus they're durable as hell, literally nothing can go wrong with a broken-in '08 or '09.

You have to believe in yourself! I'm only 20, for reference, but when I first drove a manual at 16 it was in a car with 420hp. When I first started riding street motorcycles at 15 I started small and worked my way up, but cars are easy. I believe in you.
Better to have to work up to feeling comfortable with a car's power than buy a car and inevitably be disappointed with the performance. I know way too many people spending way too much money on V6 Mustangs just to give them GT performance, let alone actually being fast.

Well, that's why I said good recent events! my grandma's decided to give me a decent lump sum of money, and it was transferred to my account to do with as I want, so i'm using my money on the car.
The 4.6 is a good alternative but keep in mind: 16, and even though it's my money, parents are getting involved in the purchase. so V8's are out of the question sadly.

yeah I guess...
Still there's one hurtle i'd need to clear, and it's called "mom's desire for me to stay alive to reach the age of 20" and I know i'm not clearing that one!

Life is really just the process of dying, if you think about it.

If I were in your shoes at that age... The world is your oyster, kid.
I suggest playing it from this angle, the stock 4.6 is kind of pokey, as I mentioned earlier. Tell your parents that a 300 hp V8 is lazy and slow revving, perfect for a cruiser kind of car whereas the high strung 300 hp v6 will constantly be begging you to wring it out. In sure you can convince your parents this is the case even upon driving the V8.
Now here are the reasons why the 4.6 is so great
- low compression means the block and components are under no stress whatsoever. No leaky rings or heads.
-Low compression means the car is begging for boost. The car supercharges almost too easily. There are people I know who have run their blown 4.6, at around 450 whp, since new, for years and they haven't encountered a single issue. It's a good longterm goal.
-The 4.6 is all aluminum with variable valve timing. It has extremely good airflow from the factory so no need to buy headers or intake until supercharging
-A company called American Muscle will tune a 4.6 GT without the need of a dyno. You can subscribe to their service and receive an updated tune every time you upgrade. The $300 for the tunes for life program also gets you a 91 octane tune that's a whole world more responsive than stock, with 10 extra hp to boot.
-They sound awesome
-gen 5s had some problems at the beginning of production but 2008s and on are problem free. Literally any and all issues the car may have had were addressed.
-Comes with an lsd (burnouts)
There now you have to buy one. A good 20k mile example goes for less than 18 grand nowadays. I got mine for 15 with the suspension already lowered and a bunch of other bolt ons already added. With the money you save you can pay for gas :P
