This is an interesting training film that explains high altitude and acrobatic characteristics of the P-47. After the dorky intro, there's a great explanation of how the turbocharger and manifold work on the Jug, then lots of aerial footage of the Thunderbolt, inexplicably set to the music of Beethoven. I find that somewhat ironic.

Are you referring to this? This film should be required watching for all Planelops.

Naked jugs exposed in the air, on the front page of Oppo? Even in b&w, you should be ashamed, sir.

I wonder what type of plane was used to film this. I was thinking a PBY with a bubble canopy on the side?

That's a good question. There were so many choices back then, it could even have been a C-47 with the door removed. Who knows?

That intro could truly not be any more 1940s. Oh, and nice Jugs! ;)
