I've always had a thing for pre-1975 hearses. Partly due to the creepiness factor, partly because Ecto-1 is the coolest movie car ever, and partly because there's just something stately about an old Cadillac or Packard with a stretch and a long roof. If they aren't your thing, here's a small photo dump to try and sway you.

Love old hearses... Then again, I worked at a funeral home for some extra money while in college, so I'm biased.

I love hearses new and old. But then I'm pretty much obligated to love them ;)

I love land yachets as much as the next guy but a hearse is a little ugly and a little creepy

I love hearses to death! I'd love to pull up to a girl's house to take her out in one just to see her reaction.

A buddy joked about getting a hearse and filling the back with many, many speakers/subs, rolling every window down, and blasting death metal at all times when driving around. To this day I still want to do that.

I'm for 'em.

Eh, it could be like the plumber that hates pipes. Or some other cliche like that.

Love them. Well, not just hearses, but all professional cars. It's always fun (for me at least) to look at older hearses to see if they were built on a professional chassis or not...the give away is usually windshield size and angle.

My friend drove a rusty 50 something Packard hearse in high school for his metal band's gear. Had a whole skull motif and some red under glow. Kinda cheesy, but I thought it was cool.

I know you're dying to go for a spin, sweetheart. It's a killer machine.

It was interesting. And recession proof! Actually, it really was like any other job and not really morbid at all. I have some really funny stories though... Let's just say that not everyone is always sad about the deceased! And it's funny, everyone always has the same reaction to hearing that I worked at a funeral home - initial concern or anxiety. Then immediately their morbid curiousity kicks in, and their next question is almost always "what did you do there?"

Family's owned a funeral home since '61

If I was running the family funeral home I would absolutely have a 50's thru 70's hearse in the fleet

I like hearses. For me its just an extension of my love of station wagons.

What's not to love? They are like wagons for dead people. Dead people have to ride in style too!

you gotta be for them.
we ALL will ride in one... eventually.
