I give you a description(s) of a random person that I don't know and clearly isn't on here, and you match one of the cars I select to the driver below! Who wants to play!
The descriptions:(This is for ONE person)
"...small and agile. So that's how I like my cars. I want to race cars. Taking corners at speed is my thing. Straight line speed is cool to show off to people. But I'd rather out handle other people."
"...tend to accelerate fast and then coast. I'm pretty subdued. And laid back. But I like to show off. I like driving my car so I can hear the engine rev. So I go through more gas than I probably should."
OH! I forgot, the car must not exceed $30-35k!
The cars:
Porsche 911
Porsche 944
Porsche 968
Porsche 928
Porsche Boxster
Porsche Cayman

![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:41 |

the descriptions seem to be for 2 different people but we're supposed to pick one car
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:43 |

It's for ONE person. :)
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:45 |

![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:45 |
|
Ummm, no? :P
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:47 |
|
heehee
ok so it's one person who likes their car to have two different personalities so that way they can attack ze corners and have straight line speed too?
so i think i get it.
i vote 911 then
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:49 |

Which description do you think is best?
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:50 |
|
yeah it has to be 911
reasons:
the 928 doesn't attack the corners as well as a 991
the 991 C2S or C4S has so much more power than any of the other cars. it is a lot better for straight line showing off than the others ones listed. and a highly spec'd one will be super flat through the corners
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:51 |
|
Porsche 944
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:52 |
|
I dunno!
Corners are more fun.
But I understand sometimes wanting to show off straight line speed.
They're kind of two different things that you want at different times.
Can't really pick the best, but I can say that a nice S version of the 991 will be able to do it all.

I almost forgot! $30-35k budget. :P
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:54 |

My friend was parked in my driveway one day. I didn't realize he had parked there. It was dark and I'm not used to people parking on it. I left to pickup some takeout and backed into his car!
Had I taken any of the other cars it wouldn't have happened as both bimmers have rear parking sensors. But of course I wanted to take ze Porsche because it's got ze stick and is the most fun to drive around town.
One of the tail lights is cracked too but I might not fix it. It's pretty hard to see so not sure if it's worth spending money on it.

Oh yeah! That story about back-up cameras a couple months back. :P
![]() 07/06/2014 at 15:32 |
|
Yes this is why you always get the car that has rear parking sensors or a backup camera if that was an option when the car was made. Don't be cheap like me and just get the cheapest car you can find :P

Replica of a 968 turbo. Make one. Get a 968 for about 20-25k and spend 10k getting a reliable 300-350 turbo horsepower out of it. Plenty of oomph, light enough to handle, long enough wheelbase to cruise, but not an outright bruiser like the 928. The power delivery is smooth and the big 4 cylinder sounds killer. The weight is upfront so it's not a widowmaker like a boosted 911.
![]() 07/06/2014 at 15:44 |
|
There's a 968 for sale in Rochester Hills for $16k :P
![]() 07/06/2014 at 15:46 |
|
No car at my house has one nor did they come as an option when they were new.. -_-
![]() 07/06/2014 at 15:50 |
|
it's kind of better for none of them to have it. If one does they all should. The Bimmers probably made me more lazy. I forgot ze 911 is old school and doesn't beep for you

Coupe or convertible? And does it have the LSD and the big black brake kit? I'd want those if I'm adding almost 100 horsepower.

Nope, I toot my horn when people get too close. :P
![]() 07/06/2014 at 16:06 |

DO WANT! That is the PERFECT base car for a turbo upgrade! Low enough miles that it's all in good shape but high enough that you might as well refresh the engine while you're there. Do all the belts and hoses as well as some gaskets.

Oh I forgot to tell you!
I was driving the 997 last weekend and saw a guy in a classic 911 cab.
I slowed down to let him catch up and gave him a thumbs up and he gave me one back. That was the first time I got a 911 owner to give a thumbs up back. Every time I tried before the other driver didn't see me giving him the thumbs up
![]() 07/06/2014 at 16:36 |

I got one in a blue SC to thumbs up back at me and I was in my FoST. Remember that one?
![]() 07/06/2014 at 16:37 |

yeah that is awesome!
![]() 07/06/2014 at 16:37 |

Will you buy it?? :D
![]() 07/06/2014 at 16:39 |

Let's see if I can get some more to thumbs up in the coming weeks hehehe..

Pffffft. I already have one money sink. And I'm thinking about getting rid of it to start saving up for a 911. I love the 968, don't get me wrong, but it isn't a 911.
![]() 07/06/2014 at 19:57 |
|
Neither is a 918 but if you had the money for that you'd get that wouldn't you? :P
But yes, a 968 isn't a 911, what 911 are you saving up for? And will you let me see it when you get one? :)

You're talking to the man who answered the "if you had 50k what car would you buy" with "I'd buy 50 1000$ cars to have my own racing series". If I had the money to buy a 918 I'd buy a fleet of Porsches and upgrade my garage to look like a retro-modern interpretation of an old fashioned gas station. Get some art-deco mixed in with the aluminum and steel accents while a 550 replica is at the pump to refill and a 928 S4 is on the hoist (because of COURSE the 928 is on the hoist.....).
As for what 911 exactly - I want an aircooled 911 pre-1990s. I'm probably going to get an 80s model but if I can find a 70s one that needs a bit of work, I could do that too.

SC? 3.2 Carrera? Great options!
