Yes, it will help you find the engine when you are ready to put it back in the wiring.

This can't be overemphasized. And, if part of your work is going to be solvent/wash/pressure/steam cleaning the area, use clear packing tape over your labels/tags so your writing is washed away. I used about 600 string-tags for complete wiring harness(es) removal on my car, and about 1500 ziploc bags, each with a scrap paper label in them, for the fasteners. Everything went back together flawlessly.
