Kinja'd!!!

So, we were taking a break from driving the 240Z and we stopped at a store. I opened the door and a small boy, maybe 5 years old pointed at the crank and went over and asked what it was.... Have we reached that point? Kids no longer know how to roll a window down manually? My granddaughter thinks no electric locks is odd as well. It was a strange moment for me! Boy, I am a dinosaur.

Don't worry I remember such things. I like the crank windows a little more than power.

Funny, I was teaching my 15-yr old manual transmission in my folk's old F150, and out of the blue she said, "I wish cars still had window cranks."

There is hope.

If it weren't for the tight leg room in my miata I'd prefer crank windows too.

I know someone who drives a 2000 kia sephia, now the Kia spectra, with manual windows, transmission, and locks. I don't mind the manual windows, I'm used to power windows, but cranking the window really isn't that bad. but the thing I hate is manual locks, it's always so hard to remember to lock the car when your used to electric locks.

Electric locks are definitely better.

Well you are in the position to influence her, you are a car person, I think these kids growing up in a Prius are doomed. Its like brainwashing.

I have cranks but I want 1 power window. The rear passenger side is really hard to reach. Crank all the rest lol.

I admit there are some cars I have that are hard to reach over to get the other window. You get stuck in a hot bit of traffic and then you are in a pickle. If its nice I usually just do it before leaving, have to hear the car better anyway.

Yeah I do it before leaving also.

5 year olds don't know what a lot of things are and they're at the age where they question everything, I wouldn't take this as a sign of anything more.

Sad that is just sad, Although honestly I've only owned one car that didn't have power windows at every door.

That's why cars need to be smaller. In my old 91 Civic I could easier lean over and crank the passenger window even while driving.

Depends on what their world is like. My 20-month-old understands crank windows; but, then, my cars are a '78 280Z and an '89 Toyota pickup, both with crank windows. So, he thinks they're normal. I like both. My wife's car has power windows, and I like them for the jobs that car does, as much as I like the cranks in mine for the jobs those cars do.

I remember a time with manual locks and manual windows. They sucked and I'll never understand the nostalgia aspect behind it.

yeah there are those, mgb gt is small. Some are just hard because of it position or how it works. Seat belts in old cars stop me. We changed to retractable In this 240z so it helps. The glass is heavy so I don't think I could roll it up from across there.

I haven't been in a car with manual windows in at least 5 years.

I don't miss them. I did once have a friend in college ask my friend with a manual what the second brake pedal was for though...
