How are you still online? Aren't you exhausted after arguing with people about Caddies and Bimmers on the front page?

I'm home now, sitting with two of my three daughters while they watch Sheriff Callie's Wild West on the Disney Channel. Wife took her assistant out to dinner, so this is the only thing I can do while sitting with the rug rats.
I got nowhere else to go right now.

I like channel 6 more. Just happened to check out WTMJ's site to see if they mentioned the lightning that hit their tower tonight that I just happened to capture on my dash cam.

Haha nice. I'd be on Oppo too if I had to watch the Disney Channel.
It's so funny how some people choose to make their points. And how obsessed people are with their own brands. I own two M3s and I don't think BMW's M cars automatically beat the Caddies. It just doesn't make sense to say "well the BMW has the better chassis so it has the better feel". Sure BMW makes a nice chassis but this is automotive science, not rocket science. It's absolutely possible for the next CTS-V to outdo the M5 and the ATS-V to outdo the M3.
It's funny how so many people (including a lot of Americans) think that American car companies can't make a chassis that competes with a German car company. American engineers can do amazing things, when they are allowed to. The problem is that often times the bean counters and managers have hampered them. But now it seems like GM is opening the checkbook a bit so Caddy can definitely shine.

I need to get my own! He has a strict rule - I'm not allowed to let anyone drive it. He's a smart man...
He also won't let my dog in it. Also smart...

I like Cadillac. I like BMW. While both make good cars, I genuinely hope that the V twins outperform the M kids. Not because 'Murica, or for some hate of Germans, but because it would be a great story about how Caddy came from behind (FAR behind) and took the lead away from The Ultimate Driving Machine.
I just laugh because we know very few details on either of the Vs, yet some people already say that they prefer the "feel" of the Bimmer to the Cadillacs (that no one has driven yet). Let's taste test both vehicles before a winner is declared, shall we?
Also, yes. You need to get a Prancing Stallion of your own. A 458 Italia, more precisely. I'd say a California, but might get run out of town.

People are so funny! Competition is good! Why would even the biggest BMW fanboy want BMW to always win? That is bad for them! Guess what happens when BMW feels overconfident - they slow down their innovations and cut corners. For example they still use steel in place of aluminum to keep costs down and they reverted from LED bulbs to traditional bulbs in some places for the same reason. Who knows where else they are cutting costs that we don't know about?
And that is hilarious to say that the bimmers will feel better than the new Vs that NOBODY has driven yet. And even if the fanboy's guesses are right and the bimmers handle 10-15% better but the Caddies have a lot more power then what's wrong with that? Some people will give up some handling for the extra power. Why is it that when AMG does this the Euro car lovers scream Hooray but when GM does it they say America builds crap?
Haha the California is a nice car but then everyone would call me a sugarbabby.

Competition drives innovation. Some people will ALWAYS prefer a Camaro to a Mustang, a Camry to an Accord, or an M5 to a CTS-V. And I'm perfectly fine with that, as everyone should be. But don't confuse personal preference to true superiority. BMW whooped everyone around the 'Ring for years in the sports sedan category. Cadillac puts in a sub-8 minute time there, FASTER than the M5. The Caddy pulled .9 lateral Gs on the figure 8. 2011 M5? .83 Gs. Yet some people still proclaim that the V is horrible in the corners.
Again, being a fanboy is fine. Just don't ignore facts: Cadillac is giving BMW a run for their money and are beating them in some performance figures.
I wonder how much a used 458 is?

You're even nicer than I am. I'm not OK with fanboys. It's fine to prefer one badge over another. We all have our preferences. But to me a fanboy is someone who is incapable of giving the competing car credit. Those guys on the FP were true fanboys and they tried to make you look wrong without facts. Instead of just saying "yeah the Caddy is a very good and capable car, I just prefer the BMW" they tried to make the Caddy and you look bad. That's just dumb. I might prefer a 458 to a GTR but I won't try to explain my preference by bashing the GTR.
Haha I can tell you exactly how much a used 458 is. I track those prices very closely:
Cheapest coupe I've ever seen: 2010 with 100K miles for around $110K. It had gone through a hard life. It had been a regular rental and a track day rental.
Cheapest coupe I've seen that wasn't beat up and had a desirable color: $175K for 40K miles. Seemed like it was someone's personal car, not a rental.
Cheapest coupe I've seen that had lower miles but an undesirable color: $175K. Don't remember the miles.
Average coupe price: $225K-250K for low miles, decent color, etc.
Cheapest spider: $275K for 9000 miles and desirable colro.
Average spider price: $315-350K
Based on the research I've done it doesn't make sense to buy a used 458. You can order a brand new one for the same or even less than a slightly used one. And the discounts for the high mileage ones aren't really good enough to accept a car with a lot of miles that either has no warranty left or not much warranty left.
I specked a spider with every option I wanted the other night to see how much it would come out to. It ended up being just a hair under $300K. So all the spiders going for over $300K are marked up. A dealer explained this to me. He said there are no markups on the standard cars like the 458 when you order a new car. He said that the reason used cars are marked up is supply and demand. A lot of people who want to buy a car want it right away. They don't want to wait 6-12 months for their car and there is a limited supply of lightly used cars so they sell at a premium, whether through a dealer or a private party.
If I could go back in time I would have not bought any of my current cars. I would have used credit to order 2 new spider as soon as it launched. As soon as they were delivered I'd start driving one, sell the other, then order another one to sell. It's too late to do that now due to the new model being right around the corner. And it's too risky to do that with the new model since it's going to be turbo charged. With my luck I'd speculate on it and the percentage of cars that burst into flames will go way up due to the heat from the turbos. Then I'll get stuck with a car that everyone is too scared to drive.

I really don't care when random strangers with obvious biases on the internet try to make me look bad. Especially when we're talking about cars. Really? You're going to get all huffy about CARS? Anytime I besmirch someone else's vehicle preference, I'm doing it in jest. Seriously calling me a plebeian and inferring that I'm not a REAL car guy ("aficionados" prefer BMWs, Ha!!!) because I happen to be rooting for the current generation of Cadillacs is silly. Go ahead, anonymous car snob on the internet: bad mouth away!
I knew used 458s were still expensive, but I didn't realize some of them were being sold at a PREMIUM!! Nope nope nope. Considering you live in California, it would make total sense to want a Spyder. Here in Houston, however, a convertible only makes for really bad hair days and sticky humidity permiating your skin/clothes. We might have 30 days/year that are ideal drop top weather. Hard top coupes are preferred here. With that said, I totally agree with you that the used 458s aren't worth it. A 430, perhaps, but the 458 is so insanely gorgeous. Just get a GTR and blow both cars off the road. Or you could rock a GranTurismo convertible and be more stylish.
Oh, and Kinja had been doing that to me as well. It keeps telling me that other commenters don't exist.

The FP people are crazy! I stopped trying to reason with them. Anyone who comments on FP only but never on Oppo is suspect.
Yeah isn't it crazy that 458s still sell at a premium! Insanity.
The weather is perfect here for a spider. I've never had any sort of convertible. So I want a spider really bad. The old man has the 612 and an F430 spider. Driving the spider makes me realize how awesome a convertible is in CA. It's only humid here about 1 month a year. Driving on warm nights with the top down is the best.
Man Kinja was really messed up today. It's still not totally right
