which would instruct them to go to their nearest Honda dealer to exchange their shitty Cobalts for new Civics.

Sure, or you could change Honda to Mazda and Civics to Mazda3s, which would be even better.

No, they should replace them with the same year Civic. 8th generation Civic is Best Civic.

Seriously, fuck GM, and fuck the feds for bailing them out, just to turn around and fuck us over again. Usually it's considered courteous to kiss someone before you bend them over and fuck them in the ass. GM just loves to fuck us in the ass all day. Oh hello American people, people who have worked here for decades, you're fired. Oh and American people, we are broke, we can't pay our employees or retirees pensions can you do that for us so we can continue to pay our exorbitant bonuses and salaries to executives who hide their money offshore to avoid taxes. I will never buy a GM product. That new Corvette sure looks cool and sounds cool too, but one flower bud in a steaming pile of shit, does not a garden make.

I generally dislike Japanese cars, but I would absolutely buy something Japanese and even French or Korean to avoid buying a GM "product".

Jesus. Someone pissed in your cereal.
I don't get how this recall shit is tied to the bailout. It's not like the bailout magically changed something, it just kept them from going bankrupt and fixed the business: they've been profitable so something changed.
Everyone who gets pissed off about the bailout has no understanding of what would have happened if GM didn't get bailed out. I'm not really defending the bailout, but I think things would have been far worse if GM went totally out of business.
I have a GM car, and I'll gladly buy another one someday. I have no reason to suspect they won't be quality cars in the future, and I don't find my car to be low quality. They fucked up, that's undeniable, but it's not like other companies don't either.

If GM wasn't bailed out, people would've (and still can) buy other cars (Ford, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai).
The problem is that they didn't learn anything from it, either.

Yeah, I get mouthy when I skip a meal. Idiot network users taking up my internet and eating time, sons a bitches. I don't think I'd ever buy domestic, unless it was Ford. GM cars have always felt like Dollar Store toys to me.

The bailout pisses me off, because it sets a bad precedent for business in a capitalist driven economy. No corporation is ever to big to fail. I feel that GM should have gone under completely, allowing other brands or individuals to purchase some of the GM brands. Imagine a Detroit with 20 different automakers; like there used to be in the golden age of America. Had GM not usurped other car companies with shady union tactics and politics, we would have better cars across the board. Totalitarianism is bad for competition, competition is good for the consumer.

It's not that people wouldn't have cars to buy, it's that thousands and thousands of people would be without jobs.
I disagree that they didn't learn anything from it. They fixed the business. You can't deny that: they went bankrupt, now they turn a profit.
The bailout had little to do with the quality of their products, it was the inefficiencies of their business that led to bankruptcy. Now with the current controversy they have an opportunity to improve the product, and I believe that they will. We've already seen some of that: the new Impala, the new Corvette, the new Silverado, the new Tahoe...all seriously good cars, leaps and bounds better than their previous generations.

Except that any Civic built after '00 is complete crap.

I like the EP3 more than I should. It's easily the best British car ever sold here. I'd love to get one in blue or white and put a British flag on the roof.
The 8g Civic Si and CSX Type-S are cool and all, but I guess even Honda doesn't make them like they used to :(

I do like the EP3, but driving one back to back with my SVT Focus made me realize how much Honda had lost their "fun" edge. The Si used to be such a good blend of great engineering, performance, and value, but the new ones are just not the same.
