they were super insistent that it "makes the car handle" when the 350z came out. Then they immediately dropped it for the 370z because holy fuck, is it inconvenient. My guess? Nissan designed the car in a hurry and then cut all their corners on the practicality side of things, rather than the performance side of things. My car comes stock with an aluminum hood, a carbon driveshaft and no glovebox.

When the car started selling like hotcakes to a more mainstream demographic, Nissan knew that job number one was increasing refinement and practicality.
