Kinja'd!!!

Is the bane of my existence. Little piece wont budge at all. At least I have it narrowed down to the sensor in the distributor for sure this time.

PB Blaster, a mallet and a screwdriver.

It'll budge.

Hit it with a hammer. That usually fixes everything.

or breaks it.

either way, make sure you record it.

I have no clue what you expect me to do with those when trying to get a distributor out of a block...

You can't even get a hammer in there to hit it with. I tried.

Can't get an angle for that method, spent about 20 minutes trying to contort myself.

Brand new cap and rotor, it's the sensor for sure. Ignition control module isn't getting a signal so there is no fuel or spark.

I'm getting seriously annoyed trying to get this out.

This didn't work. Was just wrenching the whole block around the engine bay, you could hear it lifting off the mounts I was pulling up so hard.

hit it so it moves. If its rusted into place, that will help.

or use a steel safety cable and a winch. Nothing works better than overkill.

I've been trying to hit it with the screwdriver and mallet to get it to turn, and can't even get it to do that. My next thought was to hook the strap I have around it to the engine hoist and just start lifting. If the front end lifts I'll just start jumping on the bumper. I'm sure something will come apart.

they are saying to leav3 some penetrating oil over night. Soak it and let it sit for a day.

have it towed to chernobyl and leave it there. See the movie Chernobyl Diaries? Those creepy people will get that thing out for you in no time at all.

My car doesnt have a distributor, so I dont have these problems. Coil packs are a slightly different world of hurt.

Pull the cap and start heating with Mapp gas

Wouldn't heating the dizzy make it expand and get stuck even more?

Yeah... it's been soaking off and on for months. I got it to move about 1/4in and then it started putting up a fight again. I really don't want to pull the intake manifold again just to get a better angle.

i think that's what you have to do man. It's just more of a pain with it on. Still man soak it and twist back and forth ever so slightly to loosen the 2 mended metals. Then pull.

The block and the dizzy will expand the same but the heat will break the bond between them

Heh, I had a stuck distributor in my MGA. Thankfully, on that engine, it is possible to remove the distributor mounting sleeve with the distributor still in it (since it is almost impossible to get to the points otherwise, and that way, you can get it in and out without messing with the timing).

Turns out some previous owner in the car's rather chequered past had RTVed the distributor into the sleeve. For what reason I do not know. In the end, I just had to give up and get a new distributor, then smash the old one out with a hammer.

It's turning now. So I guess it's broken loose. Still takes quite the effort to turn it though and it won't come up any higher. I suppose this is just a really tight fit.

Poke it and pry it. I guess I thought you couldn't get to that hook off the dizzy and one of these would be great to pry that off and poke around at it real good like.
