This !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! got me thinking. Personally, there's no way I'd trust a computer to drive me to work in some of the weather I see in Michigan winters here... Either the computer would have to turn over control to me, or go excruciatingly slow, which would make me late for work. What do you say Oppo?

We humans proved we're so good at it this winter, I'd also be terrified to let a computer try it.

Autonomous cars in bad weather got me thinking. How would they fare in heavy fog?

Honestly my traction control has saved my bacon here and there.... I think. There's no way of knowing how similar situations would've gone with it off. So perhaps a computer is better than a human, but I dunnoooo....

Personally if you embrace a few basic concepts I think one can do pretty well at winter driving. Provided that you have AT LEAST good all season tires on a FWD/AWD car or snow tires on a RWD car.

Hmm, depends on what type of system they use to navigate, some would be able to ignore the fog, while others can't. Video vs. GPS vs. Lasers vs. Magnets-in-road.

The current ones don't operate in anything that obscures the road markings significantly. That includes fog, heavy rain, snow, construction, and worn down markings themselves. They're obviously working on solutions, but it ain't happening tomorrow.

Honestly for commuting/non-enjoyment driving I wish commuter rail was more prevalent.

Given some of the idiots that go out in terrible a weather, a "WTF are you thinking?" warning may be a good idea.
