Well, this is it, and I'm at least as sad as you, I'm sure. To close off the six part saga that had Peter Travers of Rolling Stone writing "...the..." is the titular track off of the classic 1969 album Let It Bleed .

I love this album. It's a good middle ground between the rock of Beggar's Banquet and the heavier country and blues sound of Sticky Fingers , and it also is a perfect example of the differences in musical style between the Stones and The Beatles: Let It Be vs. Let It Bleed. It has some well known classics like Gimme Shelter and Can't Always Get What You Want, but also fantastic tracks like Country Honk, Midnight Rambler, and You Got The Silver. It's also shows the Rolling Stones at the peak of their career; there's no arguing that Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street and some subsequent albums were phenomenal, perhaps even better than Let It Bleed , but this album captures the band at the end of the decade, maturing in musical style but still very young. It was also the last studio appearance by Brian Jones before his death the same year.

The song itself is simply fantastic. It possesses the same laid-back, almost endearingly drunken style that pervades through some other songs on this album. It shows up heavily in Jagger's vocals, a lazy approach that was deleterious in other albums when it was applied to heavily, but it's punctuated with just enough enthusiasm here to make it work sublimely. There's no Mick Taylor on this track, which I think is a good thing. Ian Stewart played piano instead of Nicky Hopkins, who usually played slower songs such as this. It's really a great song, a song about being dependent on someone. It's the Stones at their finest. And finally, it has one of the greatest lines in rock and roll:

" And there will always be a space in my parking lot/

When you need a little coke and sympathy"

Who the hell doesn't?

Could not agree with you more. It was part of a trifecta from the early days. Sorry I have missed your other installments. This also came out of the Altamont Concert days when things were as crazy as they could be. Well done, my man. If you have links to the other episodes, I would appreciate them.
