The REAL deal. One of 1205, probably fewer remaining. Possibly the only four door 320is ever with a FULL MTechnic body kit. Imported from Portugal.

THE REAL FUCKING DEAL. The owner had just imported it along with a 1993 325is which was at home.

did these come with the M3 motor?

It's a destroked S14, identical to the 2.3L S14 in the M3 except the stroke is 11.3mm shorter. Also has a close ratio dogleg 5 speed.

I didn't know something like this even existed, let alone a non ///M car with a "M power" marked engine

It was to take advantage of the lower tax on 2.0l and smaller engines in Italy and Portugal, the only places it was offered. Extremely rare.

I literally almost cried. He let me drive it around the block. It was his first E30 and he wasn't too familiar with some of the quirks like how the hood opens forward and I showed him some E30 tips and tricks and explained to him there are no cupholders. The owner was the coolest guy ever, super nice and very humble.

How did you not faint behind the wheel? That's a once in a lifetime experience.

I'll probably never see another one again. I sold both of my E30's and it had been awhile since I've driven one, they are literally my favorite car. I seriously hadn't been that happy in a long time.

waitwaitwait
You just saw a rare model car that even more impressively... is imported?! NEEDS MOAR STORY! SOMETHING DRAMATIC! COPS! FEDS! MAGICAL RESTORATIONS!
But seriously do you know any of the history?

Brought in to the US with the 25 year rule, the car literally turned 25 like a month ago according to the owner, it's an 89. Not sure if it's got a crazy story or anything but the guy had stacks of paperwork in a binder in the back. Unfortunately I was at work and I am a peon to the system so I didn't have a lot of time to dink around with him and talk about it before my boss got pissed.

I'll probably never see a 320is ever. You're a lucky man.

I wanted to ask how much he paid but... Maybe one day.

It's a BMW fanboy's ultimate wet dream/fantasy/heaven car.
I bet the people who know what it is see it and don't believe it's real because I know I wouldn't if I saw that badge.

Unless they are making them all look the same this dealership looks familiar. Where is it?

A service advisor at my dealership who's equally as big a gear head as me didn't believe me when I said there was an E30 320is outside, bet him 40 bucks. He owes me.

Mechanic I'm guessing? I've been looking for e30s (with my sights set much lower of course) got any advice.

Customer service. It's easier than you think, I bought my first E30 at 17, second at 18. No longer driving either because Minnesota = rust and snow and salt. 318's will go FOREVER literally. I had 245k on my 318is and all I did was feed it oil every 6k during my entire ownership of the car. My 325is munched axels every so often and had a few wiring quirks but overall it was as reliable as can be.
They are really pretty reliable and easy to own cars.

That's kind of what I thought. I would like a manual (even though I am terrible to be honest), but auto would be ok with me.

Super easy to learn on, one of the most forgiving manuals I've ever owned. Until I put a stupid clutch in my 325
