Nice Price or Crack Pipe:
It's a 2012 Volt with a salvage title. I'd be curious to know how much damage was done because that price is a good $6k+ cheaper than what similar cars are going for.

I've certainly got nothing against driving a car with a salvage title, so long as everything works like it is supposed to.
Thoughts?

Depends. If none of the hybrid bits were hurt... maybe.

Seems like a good price, but something like this scares me with a salvage title. If it was flooded for instance, yikes! Even hit hard enough to mess with the drivetrain Id be iffy.
But if it was as dumb as a hail storm (which Ive seen before) then it might not be bad.. ad is awful for trying to sell it, they need to tell me what happened to it, not the specs copied from Edmunds

eah I suppose if it was rear ended , but the batteries weren't touched it would matter.

Swap the drive into something like an old Festiva, and make yourself an electric shogun!

Cars do not get salvage titles due to "small accidents".

Yeah, if it was flooded there's no way in heck I'd touch it. If it was rear-ended, I might be ok with it. If it was hail, I'd be totally fine with it.

That's how my current car got a salvage title. Before I bought it, it was rear-ended. It's been fine for the 140,000 km I've put on it since I got it. If it was anything like that, I'd be fine with it.

I like the way you think.
Or I could stuff it into a lo-cost in a horrible attempt at building my own BMW i8.

Anything with a salvage title is automatically a crack pipe.

Certainly a valid option, but I much prefer the idea of a plug-in hybrid. The price is identical, and the Volt could easily cut my current fuel consumption in half. Between my wife and I, we probably spend close to $2k/year on gas.
As a soon to be dad, I've also come to the conclusion that whatever car I get is going to have vomit, cracker crumbs, and muddy footprints up the backs of the front seats. I'm not too concerned about having some nice, new, shiny car, as I know what is going to happen to it.

I wouldn't be quite so hasty. My current car has a salvage title, and I've been quite happy with the 140,000 km I've put on it. Prior to me owning it, it was rear-ended.
Then again, maybe I got lucky.

I can't believe you got an insurance company to insure a salvage titled car.

Maybe things are a bit more relaxed in Canada?
