So many people signed up that we'll need two lobbies to accommodate all those who responded, and I'd like your input on how we're going to do all this. This discussion post is for information and feedback only, the sign-up post is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

VERY IMPORTANT : For this event I will be running two separate sign-up posts in addition to this discussion page: you will confirm your participation in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! post and later register for a time slot in a third post I have yet to create. I will use the "confirming participation" list to individually message those who responded to let you know when I create the "time slot" post so you can sign up for a time. I and another TBD host will use the "time slot" post to individually invite the participants to their respective races.

To simplify things I'll just keep the polls on my old sign-up post open and use the results for car class and course layout the same for both races since the results are pretty clear, but considering how even the voting is for race time and length here's what I suggest:

- Two races: one race at 9pm EST and the other at 10, the latter of which I will host. Please let me know in the comments if you can host the 9 o'clock race (edit: HyundaiAccentsAreFastBro has volunteered). Your duties as host will simply be to invite gamertags who replied to the ''9pm'' option on my "time slot" post to your lobby come race time, or even just host a public lobby and keep the randoms out while the Opponauts who signed up for the race trickle in.

- Since polling for race length is nearly tied between "1hr" and the "24 Laps" options we could make both races different lengths. My thought was to make the 9pm EST race the shorter one so that people who have to get up in the morning can race with us but still go to bed at a decent time, and leave the 10pm slot for the 24 Laps and people with no time constraints.

Please respond below with your thoughts and suggestions, and I apologize if this is turning into a bit of a clusterfuck (to be completely honest, I didn't expect this idea to gain so much traction; as of 4am EST Monday we have 20 participants and four days until green flag so more might sign up).

EDIT: HOW YOU GUYS FEEL ABOUT A QUALIFYING SESSION? WE COULD SPLIT UP RACERS ACCORDING TO LAP TIMES SO THE LOBBIES ARE AS FAIR AS POSSIBLE.

Definitely, I'd love to see this kind of participation in the next-gen game and console. TBH man I was surprised to have 20+ respondents, I thought everyone would want to do this in Forza 5 but I guess a lot of people are still playing 4.

Also I really appreciate you calling it well-organized, I'm the only one handling the logistics and so far it's been hell, haha. Sorry you got rid of your 360, we'll have to pick you up for next year's race :)

Something else you might want to do is some form of qualifying to determine who gets put with who to make it more fair.

That's a good idea, I'm just not sure how to implement it online. I mean, we could run a practice session or have everyone post their fastest lap time and from that specify PI downgrades for the quicker drivers, but considering we how many people we have it just seemed easier to allow all assists and upgrades and custom tunes. My hope is that the quick drivers know they're quick and won't use the assists or bring their best car to be fair to the other, less experienced players but that may be just wishful thinking on my part.

Definitely an option, too, I just didn't want to force someone to race in an inconvenient time for them just because they're a little slower than everyone else. I'll edit the post with the idea and see what other people think.

you could also split then in the same race. Have 2 groups of qualified cars on track at once? Or is that more complicated than it needs to be?

I know you're already working hard planning this and I hate to nit pick, but we are going to need a list of eligible cars and the restrictions on them soon. Is the Dodge Viper GT3 eligible? Is the max PI 800? Stuff like that.

You know, I actually signed up and raced in a 2.4 hour version of this a few years ago back when there were a ton of people on the Fourza forums. I can promise you 24 laps is enough lol.

Viper is definitely eligible, and is one of the cars I'm considering bringing. As far as restrictions and eligible cars my original post had all the info I think we'll need, sorry if this is getting complicated to follow three posts at the same time. When I make the time sign-up post I'll be sure to include the results of the polls along with all relevant game setting and restrictions.

It is getting a bit complex to tell you the truth haha. We could have two groups of people in the same race (think GTE and GTD in the USCC) racing the same cars but competing against only a few other people instead of the whole field but again, I have no clue how to set that up. I spent about 20 minutes yesterday in the online lobby setup menu trying to figure out how I could assign starting positions ( which I can't) or apply individual handicaps (which I can't) or set class groups (which I can't) or something like that.

I think what we'll do is have a few practice sessions on Thursday before the race where people can join and gauge their performance against others. If they're in the fast group they could bring a slower car or detune the one they're using, and if they're slower they could find one of those overpowered storefront tunes to level the playing field a bit or bring another, faster car. Basically I'm going to give participants the benefit of the doubt and trust that the players will be fair to the other players; I'll be bringing my fourth or fifth-fastest car and hopefully others will do the same if they feel they're faster than the rest of the field just to keep the races more competitive. This is a 'just-for-fun' race, after all.

Hey man, just a few things about hosting the race. Obviously we don't know how many people will sign up for either time slot until I open the sign-u post tomorrow, but if it seems like people are going for the 10pm slot just because of race length I was thinking we could make the 9pm race 24 laps as well. I'd hate to have one stacked lobby with only a few players in the other. This is purely hypothetical at this point but I just wanted to make sure you're OK with that just in case.

OK cool, I was just going off the poll results where 50% more people voted for the 24 laps than the hour race. In the 9pm time slot I'll put the race length as "one hour or 24 laps". Thanks for being cool with it regardless of the outcome.

I'd like to do this but I feel like I'll be racing against a bunch of blacked out Jettas since I don't have any of the DLC cars :/
