The fourth generation Chevrolet Caprice was sold from 1991 to 1996 as the last hurrah for the Caprice name launched in 1964 (until the Caprice name was brought back for fleet use in 2011). The Caprice Wagon shares most of its parts with the Buick Roadmaster Wagon but it lacks the faux wood sides, which ain't a bad thing at all.
Find this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! n offered for $4,500 in SF Bay Area, CA via craigslist. Tip from Kaibeezy.
The Caprice Wagon is a really big vehicle and tipped the scales at an impressive 4400 lbs, back in the day when cars weren't quite as hefty as they are today. The result is a vehicle that feels like you are driving a tank and returns tank-like fuel economy.
Under the hood of this killer whale shaped wagon is a Chevy 350 cubic inch small block V8, designated LT1 and fuel injected to produce 260 horsepower and 330 ft-lbs of torque. The LT1 was shoved in vehicles like the Corvette and Camaro Z28, so getting one in a large family sedan (even de-rated) was a big treat back in 1992.
The Caprice Wagon was only sold with an automatic transmission, which is shifted via a steering column located shifter. The modern infatuation with console mounted automatic shifters is silly and frankly every automatic shifted car should have a column mounted shifter because its an auto - who cares where the shifter is located, it's not like you are going to row through the gears unless it is a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! or slapstick.

meh I think in 92 it didnt even have the 350, just the 305. Certainly not the LT-1 (came in in 94 on the Roadmasters, Caprice followed suit shortly thereafter). Weak sauce, still a decent wagon though

You are correct, but the seller says it has the "optional" 5.7 liter engine, which I just assumed would be an LT1. Most internet information sources say the only engine available in 92 was the 170hp 305. Hmmmm...seller could be wrong, but it is hard to tell from engine pics.

oh yeah that is small block all day in there, def not the LT-1. I know all the 91 Olds Custom Cruisers and Caprices had 305's, then you could get a 350 at some time after that. You can always tell the LT-1s because of the dual exhausts
