But god damn.

NOOOOOOOOO WAY.
I refuse to believe that it's that practical. That's amazing.

Remove the back seats and bam.
The tie-down straps do look a bit sketchy, though.

This post makes me think you don't know what the word useless means...

Must be that square butt. I just searched it up and it only has 2 more cubic feet of space with the seats down and I was like THAT CRV SLOPEY BUTT CUTS OUT LIKE MOST OF THE BACK SPACE.

My family owned one and it is indeed useless. We got rid of it for an Outback (H6 LL Bean) a year after we bought this trainwreck of a Honda.
4 people (bad timing if you have to carry more than 4)
slow as shit engine
wind problems
I wouldn't mind buying one but only if I don't see that goddamned K engine inside.

full disclosure! I adore the Element

I'm just going to straight out say it. It's good for Extra credit, if you know what I mean.

I dunno. Everyone I know who owns one loves it. But, they also have dogs and/or mountain bikes, and the hoseable-out interior makes it extra bonus practical for everything but hooning.

Only the floor and seats, if memory serves me right.
Why do you want to hose out the dashboard/anything electric?

I somehow liked the Element even though I hate SUVs by default. Now I found a reason why.

I still like the Element, but I wished they considered on putting more research on the drivetrain, mostly because I don't want to suffer sub-20 ratings with an anemic engine.

*headdesk* You don't.

The best tailgating car I've ever had. Three of us packed up an 08 EX with a generator, 27" CRT TV (remember, this was in 2008), TV antenna, mini grille, cooler, 2 cases of beer, 3 camping folding chairs, and a big bag of charcoal. People in Tahoes and Exploders kept asking us how it held that much stuff.
But yeah, the gas mileage sucked.

That was the one factor that forced my family to trade it in for an Outback.
The rear seats are also useful if you forgot your beach chairs at home. You just have to sit a little bit lower.

I have to disagree. I hated the Element when it first came out, targeted at adventure-sports enthusiasts in their 20s (of which I was one, then).
When I started selling Hondas a couple years later, I realized it's an incredible small-family car. It's not a great drive, but we all know most people don't care, and it's easy to clean, holds a TON, and is still easy to park in the city. It's the perfect 2 adult, 1 kid, 1 dog, car.

It gets less than 20 MPG?!
