So I found out this morning that Cosworth will sell you a 2010-2013 F1 motor. I'm sure some of you knew that. I did not. Does anyone know roughly how much this would cost? It's frickin KERS-equipped! Miata swap?

Not a good idea, even if you have infinity monies. The tolerances on an F1 motor are so tight that your Cosworth Miata would have to be put on life support or it would seize at room temperature. That rev line would be fun for the first few drives, but having to constantly replace the thing every few months means committing to a never ending engine swap project. That would get old quick.

Here's the solution you want for your miata . 2.0L, 400 HP, 14k RPM. Most of the fun of an F1 engine, none of the punishment. This assumes Hartley actually makes the thing and this is not vaporware, as no one's heard anything about it since last year unfortunately.

Not like anyone bought one the first time around. I'm sure they've got tons.

I got the sense from following this for a while that Hartley sold the production rights to someone. The only place I could find where you could buy the H1 (V8) and the H2/H3 (I4) was http://www.holeshot-racing.co.uk/index.php/engi… . By the way a twin-turbo 1,000 horsepower 2.8L V8 just blows my mind.

The newest development (to me) was seeing the 2.0L Bolt V8 posted on March 2014. This is a smaller version than the previous V8 and produces 200hp per liter. It says testing will begin late summer. I can't wait to see it progress.
