They're not bad transmissions, though the one thing that worries me is a little switch. We bought a $300 Toyota Camry with the 1MZ, and the owner told us the transmission would instantly go into neutral after a certain time/distance.
As it turned out, we took out the "neutral safety switch" and discovered it was full of gunk. No wonder.
