That's the problem.... it rubbed through the paint and trapped moisture. Hence rust. But that's what happens when you put a park bench on a trunk.

Yup. Rust started to pop out from under the wing. Took it off to see what damage was done :(

The wing is ABS so that doesn't that. So I think I'm going to sand down the trunk. Put some rust inhibitor on it. And then re paint it. And the wing will go back on and hide the paint job... At least I think that's the plan

No, that's unfair. Subaru's are very cool and interesting cars. Spoilers however, are usually for show, completely unnecessary, and douche accessories.

Ooof. Might be smart to cut a bit of rubber mat or something to fit under the spoiler as a sort of bearing pad to prevent that from happening again.

You should buy a WRX trunk, debadge it and put it on. You'd probably find one in the right color too.
