Given that you want an RV and you are both rich and insane, would you choose:
The amphibious super luxurious class C !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?
Or all terrain !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?
What say you. Its a tough one for me. The idea having a houseboat and an RV seems pretty great....but the I love overlanding and my family could live quite comfortably out of the XV-HD for as long as we had funds. Tough one.

whatever this is doing, is where my money is going

I would never say no to this one.

EARTHROAMER - F-650 version so I can tow a big ass boat behind!

All terrain XV-HD. No question.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 16:56 |

The Terrawind, easily. Boat parties are best parties.

XV-HD. The Terrawind doesn't look at home on water. Looks like too much of a compromise where the XV-HD looks at home on land. Rough and smooth.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:00 |

I don't even....
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:01 |

EarthRoamer. because actual usability. The Terrawind is cool, but is only usable on calm lakes with a gentle ramp. Whereas, the EarthRoamer can go anywhere.

rich? no doubt, but not quite insane enough
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:02 |

with the outriggers it's supposed to be able to handle 5 foot seas
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:05 |
|
Inflatable outriggers are not comforting. Also, I doubt it could make much headway into a stiff breeze.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:05 |

whichever this one is.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:07 |

Good luck backing that into a spot
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:08 |

Probably the Terrawind. I live in MD close to the water. Off roading isn't really interesting to me.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:11 |

I'll take the all terrain thingy. Less concern over drowning when a pontoon pops.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:14 |

My dad wants one when he'll stop working. I'm like dude buy an R8!

Remember you said that when it comes time to make a right turn at a four-way
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:20 |

Earthroamer for sure

number of turns from my house to lake powell - 7
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:21 |
|
Ok, you're at Lake Powell. Now back the boat down the ramp ;)
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:22 |
|
yeah, the inflatable riggers are just for added stability and so you can use the slide while underway, it floats and drives fine without them, as far as headwind? yup...but try that in a houseboat anyway.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:23 |
|
that's a tough choice...goes the xv-hd come in a diesel and stick?
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:24 |
|
so what you are saying is not that its insane...its just stupid. I hear ya. btw, I'm sure you've seen it as well, but triples aren't that uncommon out west.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:25 |
|
Diesel? cummins, stick? nope.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:27 |
|
Yeah, but they're mostly used for highway hauling. I live just off I-90 and at my exit there's a big lot the triples will pull into and break down into cab+single trailer for venturing out onto the surface roads.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:28 |
|
interesting, I see a lot of triples headed to lake powell, they brake apart at the marina. For the record, I think its a terrible idea.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:31 |
|
Didn't even see the outriggers. Oops.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:51 |
|
Are they making any progress on Hwy 89?
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:52 |
|
Most of the time, they are chipped F350's, so they are getting along just fine. Better than I will be in the cruiser and my pop up.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:52 |
|
Silly man, You drop the extra trailer first and then put the boat in the water with the vehicle you brought with you in the second trailer.

My Miata?
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:54 |
|
Not following. My question was about Hwy 89.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:54 |
|
well it's half there.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:58 |
|
I guess I don't follow then, is something happening with 89?
![]() 04/17/2014 at 17:58 |
|
If the answer is always Miata, then why not. :)
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:01 |
|
But, what if you brought this (but since you're insanely rich, with a Hayabusa engine swap)?
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:03 |
|
Landslide took out a big chunk of the road last year. AZDOT is trying to establish a different road across Navajo land while they reconstruct Hwy 89. 89 is a major road leading to Lake Powell/Page from the south. (I guess I thought you lived in that area).
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:03 |

And brown...since that's Jalop's colour of choice...
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:04 |
|
Nope, I come from the north (salt lake)
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:05 |

I'd take this. In the U.S. there's more fun to be had in the water. Chicago fireworks from an amphibious palace? YES.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:05 |
|
Ahhh. I see.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:08 |
|
I'll admit I'm new to posting and being a jalop, but I don't understand the appeal of the color brown.
Diesel yes, wagon yes, stick yes, rwd yes, except when the answer is miata; but brown, I don't understand.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:08 |

Could you image how much fun you could have touring the intercoastal waterway?!
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:10 |
|
I suppose that if you are that rich, you can just pay someone to launch the boat. Hmmm. Summer at Lake Powell and make money, too. Desertdogs Launch Service. Nice ring to that. :)
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:10 |
|
I'd just love to look at other boaters' faces as you cruise on by in a giant RV.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:15 |
|
You know what? as a rich dude, that would be my primary motivation for buying things so yes. It might be my call too.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:27 |
|
The amphibious RV is so much cooler, if for no other reason than thinking about the endless list of ways it can go horribly, horribly wrong.
But if you had the funds, creativity, and insanity to do it right, the amphibious RV would be an incredible experience. It's missing a sun-deck, though.
![]() 04/17/2014 at 18:31 |

The guys that build it have a long history of ducks and other waterborn vehicles; they've done good work on the concept. Also, it has a back deck or a ladder to the roof.
