Most of the weight is right at the floor of the car. The batteries and the motor just a little higher than the middle of the wheels. All the torque is available from 0 rpm. This is important in autocross. It's a hatchback, so it's practical. You could haul 4 track tires in the trunk with the rear seats up (the size of the stock tires). Different tires would be a must though, because the stock tires offer little in terms of handling. Just be sure there is a super charger nearby.

I am being thoroughly entertained by your discoveries, because I can see the progression of how your mind is changing due to research over the past few posts, and that is making me happy for some reason.
I really didn't care one way or the other about the Leaf, but your enthusiasm is enthusing me too.

I remember seeing a video on Roadfly or Edmonds in which they put the sticky Advan tiers from a Exige in a Leaf and it managed 1G on the skid pad test

The Telsa is a perfect autocross car because you could actually drive it to the track, do a few hot laps and drive it home.
Oh and because RWD (yea I know that makes very little difference in autocross, I also know I don't care about that fact).

YES! Instant torque is why the CRZ kicks my butt in H Street.
Do it do it do it do it do it!

I know people have put coilovers and swaybars on the Leaf. I don't know if they were raceland though

Stock curb weight is 3200 lbs. I'd be interested to see how much you could take out of one.
