So I have a dealer in the midwest who works with possibly the most heinous of website providers I have seen in the car world. This is for a Ford dealer, and I was just catching a 63% crawl error rate from analytics. Upon investigation they put this site live without telling anyone at the dealer or me at the marketing company. Whatever. But is that a damn Toyota on the background?

Hilux

Sure looks like a Toyota to me, though I couldn't tell you the M/Y.

Uhm...doesn't the new Ford Ranger very much resemble a Toyota Hilux? I saw one with Mexican nat'l plates the other day I thought Hilux..but it was a Ford.

I thought you had nailed it until I noticed one detail. Check out where the roll bar is bent. It's bent down next to the box. Toyotas have a bend there, the Ranger doesn't.

It's a Hilux:

Yup...caught that after I stared at it a little longer...not to mention the grills seem diff. but I think this is a 2012 iteration...perhaps later models have been modified?

I concede your point Bacon but the more I look at the above picture, clearly the hilux image is an extended cab...and the ranger shows a quad full cab. There's a door handle there indicated the shadow image in question has a complete back door. Tit for tat and call me crazy...aftermarket roll bar's etc...who knows...we're all pretty much in line though. It's a toss up...

Good point about the extended cab vs. full cab. The kink in the roll bars though... really makes me think Hilux.

Going to have to give it up to the facts. :-) that bend in the roll bar says it all methinks... The gaps in the grill kinda sell it too, here's a quad/full cab...I concurr...
HILUX!

I wish they were, seriously had a conversation about them with a buddy from work like 2 hours ago!
I've driven one in the US but it was a Ford owned Manufacturer plated truck

huh interesting. I am sure it wasnt anything spectacular, but fun to ride around in what we cant have!

IT WAS SPECTACULAR, HOW DARE YOU!
Factory lifted 4 door manual pickup!!! I'd buy one tomorrow if it was for sale here.
And I'll probably (depending on MPG) but a 4 door Canyon in a few years because Ford won't sell the Ranger.
The real reason is cost. It ends up being about 1-2000 less than a full F150 similarly optioned so they just assume people will buy the F150 and they won't be able to sell them.
I'd prefer the ranger though.

haha well that is a glowing review. Yeah I heard about the price issue. Too bad really. I know more people that wouldnt care about an f150 but would buy the ranger instead. I guess the canyon will tell if the market is there

Yeah. I am really excited about the Canyon. If they can get the gas V6 over 25 hwy mpg i'm probably getting one in 4 years or so. (despite how awesome it would be for it to be sooner.)
