And I quote: (From KARE 11, a local news station in the Metro)
"Other driver distractions that can end in a citation include:"
Talking on cell phones
Eating/drinking
Dealing with rowdy passengers
Grooming
Daydreaming/taking mind off driving;
Reaching for items
Adjusting radio, music, GPS, or vehicle controls
Don't you dare think about adjusting your gear selector from 4th to 5th, being that it is a vehicle control you can now get cited for adjusting it. Music too loud? Sucks, you have to deal with it because if you even THINK about turning that dial you're toast.
Also day dreaming? Really?
Unbelievable.

I wish I could pull cops over for distracted driving. I've seen a city cop in my area playing solitaire while driving on his laptop.

The steering wheel is a vehicle control. Don't touch it.

Day dreaming?

Is it wrong to pretend my commute is the Nurburgring, only for a minute?

How the fuck would they know about daydreaming without fucking psychic powers? Do the cops there have Cerebro?!

You know what, just don't even start your car. That's a control. Brakes? Control. Gas pedal? Control.
Looks like I'm walking from now on.

Honestly I'd love to get a ticket for that and see how it held up in court.

I actually wonder, is changing gears illegal too?

That sounds like extremist thinking. Big brother might be coming after you.

I'm sure if you were enough of a douche to a cop he could cite you for it now.

I would bet that you would only be cited for this if, after the wreck, you said to the cop, "Gee officer, I just didn't see him because I was changing the radio station."

I believe most driving statues have some sort of 'undue care and attention' clause that should be a catch-all term for doing something other than driving, to the point of distraction.
These added cellphone laws are redundant.

well I can't drive the kids anymore.

I wonder how they'll argue daydreaming. "Suspect had a passing look of ennui"

So is the gear lever and clutch.
It's a plot to lock everyone in 1st gear!
