I got asked to the Senior prom at the high school I'll attend next year. My "girl friend" (it's not really official, but it's pretty obvious.) is an exchange student from Cambodia. She was put in 12th grade even though she's 16, so she goes to the senior prom. She asked this morning if I wanted to go with her. My parents said no. And I agree with them. Not that I wouldn't want to go with her. It's just that it's the senior prom, so people a lot older than me will be there. And seniors do really stupid stuff at the prom (nothing against Seniors here). And I'd look stupid because I've never been to anything like a prom before. So, yep. Here's both of us together! I never look good in selfie type pictures.

I'd suggest, just take her to a movie or something if you can't attend the Prom. It's just a way to show that you care.

i didn't go either. i was a total shut in, so i wouldn't have enjoyed it. i've since come out of my shell so i'd probably go if it were today, but at the same time going to bars and dancing at 22 is way better than any dry prom at 18.

would not recommend prom to anyone. most of the people i knew who went were much more interested in the idea of prom than the actual event

I went to a concert with a date instead of that years prom. It is a lasting good memory and a lot of bands people like tend to play around the prom time of year.

realtalk, don't go. i don't want to sound like i'm talking down to you, but a 14/16 year old couple would not be welcome hanging out with a bunch of 18 year olds. you're just in a totally different place at 14 than you are at 18.

take her out someplace nice, maybe if you're in the central florida area buy my 2000 mustang convertible and show up in something snazzy, but don't go to prom. you have plenty of time later to do things you regret.

I drove the world's lamest car to an ex-girlfriend's Junior prom, when I was in High School (V6 S197 Mustang)... I blame my mother's bad taste in sporty cars, since she could've had a Miata!

On the other hand, I drove a very cool car to my prom. B13 Sentra, FTMFW. As light as a Spider, and about as rust-prone. I still kinda miss that one.

Haha, funny enough, I plan on doing some kind of Engineering! My dad went to mechanical engineering. Now he works for eBay as some kind of computer engineer basically helping run the eBay website. It was a weird story how he switched career.
