I tried out my new track exhaust over the weekend and it sounds absolutely glorious (to me anyway) at full throttle
Anyone know how I can get about the same sound at a sane (street friendly) volume? Most mufflers I've tried end up sounding really tinny and buzzy.

Tinny and buzzy you say? V8 swap. Problem solved. That muffler sounds really good though. What is it and How's the drone?

Is that your FR-S in the video? If so, tell us about it so we know what we're starting with.
That exhaust sounds great for the track, but sounds like it could be drone-y and headache inducing for the street.

It is no muffler (for weight savings), drone actually isn't as bad as one would expect. Going up a hill at low RPMs though is totally unlivable.

Yes it is mine, I have an equal length long tube header, a catted and resonated front pipe, the stock resonated mid pipe, and a muffler delete out back. I have tried both an HKS and the stock muffler with less than stellar results.
for reference here is the HKS (the sound at 1:06 is why I removed it)

A new muffler is the only way you're going to quiet that puppy down. The Magnaflow on my co-worker's sounds pretty good. Neighborhood friendly when cruising, but sounds mean at full throttle.

Yes I realized my mistake afterwards, but out of respect for anyone out enjoying a nice quiet Saturday afternoon, I decided one round of straight piped fly-bys was sufficient.
But I shall post this in shame

Significantly softer but...
How does that work for you?
