You are going on a road trip across the United States with your Lady Friend/Companion
You will sleep in your car, and live inside it.
What do you choose?
The car is not to be a Camper, and not intended to be converted into a camper. It will be able to sleep two, Semi-Comfortably.
Obvious answer is obvious.

Honda Element.....back seats fold totally flat, the car is reliable as hell, can be had with a Manual, and isn't a terrible car overall.
Or the Pontiac Aztec, it has a fucking tent.

Good choice! Very durable also, Lots of space.
That was the only thing I like about the Aztec, Haha.

Oh Haha. A companion then.

can I cheat and use cars not legal in America? If so I choose the CLS 63 AMG wagon!

I like everything about the Aztec to be honest.....its a car, its meant to be a car with a tent and it does a decent enough job at it.
And the element is also water proof Should your lady and you have some extra curricular activities.

Yes. Just don't tell Customs :)
![]() 04/07/2014 at 19:22 |

Haha, that cracked me up. The seats go allll the way down. Perfect.

I want an Element now....fuck.
Like this would be perfect for my weekend camping trips....The cobalt is too cramped and the "farm" truck has no insulation and its too fucking cold for it.

Trust me

new escalade esv, because if I'm gonna be sleeping in it I better be damn comfortable
![]() 04/07/2014 at 19:30 |

I'd take this Ford GT, and it would be with a guy friend/companion.
![]() 04/07/2014 at 19:30 |

Dammit, I want one now. The Element was sort of in a class of it's own.
Only competitor, the Fj cruiser was expensive, and had a blind spot the size of Rhode Island.

Nah, I bat for the home team, I just somehow keep being single.

How do you think I afford having put a new clutch in.
![]() 04/07/2014 at 19:36 |

That was my first thought!

The FJ cruiser had ZERO VISIBILITY. Any time I drove one I just closed my eyes and hoped for the best, it was the same if I had my eyes open.
The Element is in a class of its own, it is the more useful smaller SUV thingy majiggy on the market.
I love that it has a Manual Option, the engines are Honda's so super reliable, and on top of that, modifiable, you can make some serious power out of ANY honda engine.

I feel like its sorta sad how bad I want one of these......Its my new obsession car wise.

I feel like Previa has been my answer a lot lately. I'd prefer one with the captain chairs in the back. The third row fold completely flat, with captain chairs, I could throw a little table in the back for dinner, and it has a ton of space overall. The only downside is that is isn't terrific on fuel. And the headlights suck.

I usually don't think wagons are a good option for a car. But considering this is the only option really I suppose this will work.
![]() 04/07/2014 at 19:43 |

I believe I'd find me something like this, with a nice comfy bed in the back.
When the van's a rockin', something, something, something....

One of my favorite pictures!

I have taken my 09 Forester XT to Colorado and semi-comfortably slept with another person in the back. If I went with my wife, I wouldn't hesitate to take the same car

easy choice 1961 Chevy Impala. Comfortable ride, lots of room. Bench seat so lady friend can cozy up on the road, massive trunk for everything. Plus it has style.
![]() 04/07/2014 at 19:50 |
|
I sat inside one. Insta-Nope.
I also think it's great with Manual available.

Dude my ex had one of these, I wanted to kill myself after 10 min of driving it.

I would Goonet Exchange an 2013 S6 Avant because JDM YO. But I would have a massive white wave following me from the Jalopnik crowd.

Panamera. Nice handling, loads of room, and comfy.
So I've been told. I still think they'd make excellent road trip vehicles. Anyone want to get a hold of one and try it out?

If I'm going on a road trip, whatever I'm driving better have some flash. A Volvo V70 is not the answer.

Yup.. that ought 'a do it
![]() 04/07/2014 at 21:09 |

well its shit to drive but not bad to sleep in
![]() 04/07/2014 at 21:10 |

but i didn't think it was "that bad"
![]() 04/07/2014 at 21:11 |

I narrowed it down to three. M5 wagon, because M5 wagon. No seriously, we saw on Top Gear that the E39 wagons have lots of space and the E60 is bigger yet. But a smooth ride, beautiful interior, fantastic performance and great looks complete this package. X5M would sleep two easily and look menacing. Not as "below the radar" as the M5 but the elevated sitting position is great for long trips. Yukon Denali for super lux and space for all your crap.

a bull bar and some decent driving lights are the best modification for these. My parents had one when I was younger, It didn't have the captains chairs but both rows could fold down flat.

I'm gonna be that guy and say miata because it's always the answer and at least you'll be entertained on the trip.
![]() 04/12/2014 at 21:27 |
|
So. How do you sleep comfortably in a Miata?
![]() 04/12/2014 at 21:44 |
|
quite simply you keep sleeping pad and sleeping bag in trunk huddle with female for warmth. Who may or may not have abandoned you by now which if she has is actually a good thing because she won't be complaining about how fast your taking the corners.
![]() 04/12/2014 at 21:49 |

That could sorta work. I'm 6'3 and my lady friend is 6 so that might nt work. Haha
![]() 04/12/2014 at 21:51 |
|
Oh this is serious?
![]() 04/12/2014 at 21:54 |

Haha no, just dreaming of what it would be.
My Gf would shoot me in the foot if I told her that I wanted to do this.
