Than all generations of Subaru Impreza's combined.

If drag heats count as races, no question.

Racing's racing.

If you count each individual drag race, yes.
Then again, even the Chevette might have.

Drag racing is still racing.

If winning an individual drag heat counts as a "race win" does an individual rally stage win count as a "race win?"

In terms of beater status I feel like most people accept the first gen impreza as a beater for almost anybody, while the fox body is seen as a more of a unique choice for those who truly enjoy them (not my thing personally but I do get the appeal). Further, I'm willing to bet that there are more restored/tastefully modified/better maintained examples of the mustang that people wouldn't be willing to shell out the extra dough for just to use as a beater. But to each his own.

If we're talking base model first gen Imprezas (which we are) then no doubt about it.

in America, yeah. Hard to say otherwise, the Impreza's are in a shit tonne of production rally's and hillclimb events worldwide.

Yes.
I bet every weekend there are more drag races than rallies.

How many drag races?

In the same way Porsche PR says they've won 28,000 races, even thought more then half come from all their 911 cup series.

Ah, but it's not that easy. In the U.S, absolutely. But outside the states there's multiple every weekend, all year long including winter. So rally gains ground thanks to drag racing's off season. Also, while there is of course drag racing in other countries the number of Fox bodies showing up at events like Santa Pod and ANDRA is low, so more ground gained there. Also how many runs does a person get on a drag night? I have no idea, but I'm guessing 6-10. That's half the number of stages in a typical rally (with some rallies having as many as 30 stages.
Of course counter point to give the drag Mustangs a chance is the fact that every single drag Mustang at a drag night has a 50/50 shot of winning it's individual run, whereas on a rally stage only one Subaru will mark down a win. But then it gets even more complicated because when talking rally are you only allowing overall stage wins or are class wins acceptable? Seems like class wins is the fair way to do things, in which case you could have up to a half dozen Subaru wins on a stage. And on and on, back and forth, etc.

Yep. Basically everyone's B.S.ing and padding their numbers

Ah, but not all of the US shuts down during the winter. And drag racing is very popular in the south.

Yeah, but they all have mullets, which means they're all racing Camaros ;)

I know they're common enough on Wednesday nights in Sydney. It's not unheard of them to run 10s

Here's the line for the dragway at Sydney, can't see any mustangs :P
(okay, it was a club meet, but they're still fairly common every Wednesday night)

Since I currently own 2 of them, I can do naught but agree with you. :)

The Ford Pinto has probably won more than the Mustang if you consider how many short tracks still race them every weekend and have been for 40 years.

Possibly.

You've got to factor in that they sold the Impreza worldwide. I think there's probably a dozen or so Fox Mustangs in the UK, and probably not that many more in the rest of Europe. The same thing goes for Japan. I'm not sure about the Middle East, or South Africa, but I don't think the Fox was sold in great numbers there either. They did sell them in each of those markets, but probably a dozen for every thousand Imprezas everywhere but the Middle East.
It'd be interesting to actually get some stats about it actually.

Yeah, but saying it won more races is like saying a guy is more of a winner if he won more blackjack rounds than another guy won poker tournaments.

These are foglights, right?
I would love to see this car with the hood off to see how the exhaust is routed.

They sold about 1.5 Million Fox Body's

That's a lot actually. Do you know how many abroad? That's what I couldn't find.
