Is my pitch that we should be considered a special interest group. The car community should get together and create a special waiver for enthusiasts to buy those crazy foreign cars like the AS 6 avant; or your crazy ford focus RS. I don't think it be hard to prove to Congress that we have enough people wanting these passes and waivers, and that as a group of us car people make a pretty sizable bloc of the voting demographics.
Why isn't there a special-interest group or super PAC; for us crazy car people?
I submit the name should be hoonPAC or OPPOPAC or JALOPAC;
Just me?

Hey even if it's accidental support we'll take all the help we can get!

The only and closest thing resembling this is the SEMA Action Network, which is a pro-hobby, pro-aftermarket lobby group. They said they focus on smaller laws on a state-by-state basis and that bigger ones like the import ban (simply changing the classic car exemption from 25 to 15 years like Canada) would take years, if not, decades to change. They seem to favor the classic car hobby, so it may just be a bunch of old geezers.
Australia actually had a real political party that does as you described. It was called the Motoring Enthusiast Party, or something along those lines.

Start a petition, and make sure it gets life!
I keep an eye open, and have signed a few of the car import ones.

Maybe we can use that to market the JALOPAC?
