I don't know how that happened because as of my last !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! it was about a 70/30 in favor of the E36. All I know is I'm happy.

I am a fan of both but I really wanted the E36 to win this one... It was a lot closer to 50-50 from what I am seeing so I don't feel quite as bad.

The E36 should and would win any other match up against the W123. For a beater though, I think the w123 is better suited. They are ludicrously easy and cheap to maintain, and that along with reliability should be the biggest considerations.

If I had to grab a diesel land barge, the W123 would be my go to choice. You are right, as a beater the W123 will survive just about anything.

For any model but the W123. The extensive use as taxi's has made a huge aftermarket for parts. They are no more expensive to maintain than a Cavalier.
