Not the AMC hatchback, either.
After driving my car a little yesterday, I tried to start it to go and get some groceries and it wouldn't turn over. I was able to push start the car, but the starter didn't respond to some mechanical encouragement; after further inspection it wasn't getting any signal power, only constant.
I chased the wire back to the starter relay, and tested the relay with a multimeter, at which point I noticed that I was able to start the car by jumping the two plugs on the left, but the plug ground was no good. I pulled the plug end of the ground wire out, cut it off the wire heading to the engine bay, soldered it to another black wire I had lying around, popped it back into the plug, and bolted that wire to the body; it fired up on my first try. Feels so good, man.

Fortunately. Damn things always gave me the creeps.

You think that's scary? Imagine finding this inside your toilet seat.
