I sold some securities and would like to transfer the funds back to my checking account, but I can only transfer what was previously available for withdrawal. How can I make my proceeds eligible for transfer? Have an Alfa WP for your troubles.

Fuck I figured this out when I had this same problem but I can't remember how I did it.

How long ago did you sell the securities? By law there is a three day hold after selling securities before the money can be transferred or withdrawn unless you're using it to buy more securities in the same account.

Ahh, I was thinking that was the problem. It was two days ago.

I think what you're looking for is the "settlement date," when the funds are actually available to do with what you will. That takes a few days.

Yeah it's usually 3 days before you can transfer the money elsewhere. I have ETrade and if you sell you can also buy right away with the same money. You just can't take it out of the account.

You need to wait until the sale has settled in order to transfer funds.
