A used 550i with around 45k miles can be had for about 40k, give or take a little bit. A M5 clocks in around 65k with 30-40k miles. Which one would you rather have?

Money no object? M all day
Money is an object? Sell a kidney. Proceed to M all day

Seems logical. For science of course.

I'd have to go M, simply because it's an M car. If we were choosing between that and an F10 M5, I'd choose the F10 M5 because V10.

F10 M5 because manual transmission.
But the real answer is E61 M5 touring with the loudest and racecar sounding aftermarket exhaust. Both in blue

M5, because manual transmission. In fact, if I had the money, I would buy a manual M5 just to prove to BMW that some people still want all three pedals in their über fast luxury sedans that shouldn't logically have a manual transmission.
Because luxury race saloon(?)

Both have too many doors.

So Eisenmann exhaust?

M5 M5 M5 M5 M5
Except I'd go E39 or E60. But if I was picking between these two F10s I'd go M5 for sure. Sure it costs more but it would be worth it.
If saving money was a big concern I'd go with the 535i. It has enough power to be fun and better gas mileage.
BTW are you in OC too?

Drunk so Ferrari 456. Same price yo. When I sober up will regret not getting M5...

550i is plenty nice and having $25k in walking around money for a side project/track car(s) sounds like a great combo to me.

M5 no question. I went from a 14 550msport to a 15 m5 CP and there is no comparison.

Edit : 13 550 and 14 M5

The answer is always E39 M5

I think you mean E60 :P

Whichever is manual.

I really like that 550. I'll go with that because gentleman cruiser. But I'd really love a E60 M5 over either of those.

This is the correct answer. A 535 with m-sport and remap looks menacing. I'm not in OC :P, found this pic online.

550i + FR-S?

I was thinking something really out there like a Lotus 7 clone or even maybe a Shelby Cobra replica (I think I've seen them that low).

Haha you're right!
That, kids, is why you don't mix Oppo and whiskey. Thanks for the correction!

If I ever need a bigger sedan with better gas milage than my E90 M3 I would go 535i.
Luckily for now I'm ok with a smaller car that sucks gas cause I don't have kids and live close to work.

I would much rather have an M but for the price I got my barely used, fully loaded 550i for a hair under 40k (MSRP ^$75k^)with 30k miles, it also came with DINAN stage 2 tune, powder-coated wheels, tinted windows, and 700$ carbon fiber lip spoiler. (aprox. total cost well over $3k)
This was the cheaper and better purchase for me because I knew the owner and he took incredibly good care of it. Therefore I have no regrets besides the 16.1 MPG but I knew that from the beginning.
