To clear the Spit's chassis you either have to chop up the 2.5l sump or fit the sump from a GT6. Unfortunately, the GT6 sump is too shallow to clear the longer throw of the 2.5l crank so you have to massage the shallow end a little to provide clearance. 'Massage' being the posh word for 'hit with a hammer' of course :)
Here's the tools of the trade. Oxy-acetylene torch and a ball-peen hammer. Then it's just a matter of marking where the crank makes contact and knocking it out.
Lastly I thought I'd wire-brush all the rust and paint off the outside. It's been prepped for painting too, so hopefully I'll get to that tomorrow :)
