I think there's something wrong with the test because during the test the dial was reaching 5mb/s but afterwards it was saying I got .58.

Hardwired on the work PC. Wireless on my Mac is about 1/6th as fast, on my PC it's about 1/4th the speed.
What kind of aluminum foil are you using for a network card man?

That is painful. Maybe they have some tin cans and string you can use to get better throughput.

No kidding. Last year they finished the transition to wireless-only in residence halls and major academic buildings. Huuuuuge mistake; wireless printers are destroying the networks and the internet is unusable during peak hours. RIP Xbox Live & PSN too. Wanna connect with an Android? Get bent. Thankfully, my iPhone 4S very rarely has issues with it.
Anything that is remotely time-sensitive gets done on a hardwired library PC for me. Any time someone comes up to me at work and says "what happened to my files?", I want to precede my answer with "don't shoot the messenger, but..."

You might as well mail a letter to request a print out of the webpage you want to see.

Why the hell would you do that? I could understand throwing in some APs for tablets etc. but to roll all wireless? That's nucking futz.
