My car uses rubber well nuts to attach the rear bracket for its side skirts, but I destroyed one of the nuts a while back. Honda doesn't sell replacement nuts separately and apparently well nuts aren't common parts on cars ... but they are on motorcycles! After 4 years (!) my skirts are no longer flapping in the wind!

You can get them at faster suppliers such as Fastenal or Grainger.

You can also pick these up anywhere that sells Hobie Kayaks.... they use them for almost all of their factory accessory install stuff!

Both. In my day we used wood screws to put together rafts made of grass, and dealt with the consequences of sinking later.
