Not a lot of details in the video... . Did they run the heater?

If not, the range is going to be a lot shorter....

That isn't going to stop the Model S from being the current "in" car here in Fairfield County, CT. I see at least 3 Teslas every day just driving around town.

I live in Fairfield County too, but I've only seen two of them. One on the Merritt, and one on Rt. 7. Weird thing is, there's a guy near me who drives a Tesla Roadster, and I've seen that one around a lot more.

The Stamford/Norwalk area is full of them, probably because the rest areas on 95 have Superchargers between Stamford and Norwalk.

I can vouch for this. My Volt can do 40 miles in the summer, 25-30 if it's below freezing. The heater will run to warm the battery if it's close to 0 (F), but the gas engine comes on below 15 (F) anyway to provide heat.

Heaters use electricity. Electric cars need electricity to move. Heat on means less juice for transportation. The only variable is how many kwh your heater can draw.

My family has a 2013 Fusion Energi. Over the summer I was consistently getting 22-25 miles on electric only and now it's between 13-18 cause of the lower temperatures.

Well you're definitely right about this not stopping them from being the "in" car, because I really don't think these people are buying them just because their gas expenses were such a burden. Maybe it's just a hunch, but something tells me these people are fairly well off.

How do you like it so far? Out of all the plug-in hybrids, I'm finding it the most tempting.

It's much better than the Prius plugin except the Prius offers more trunk space.

It's very comfy and quiet, doesn't handle like complete crap, and it's got adequate acceleration. The downsides are - small trunk space (but rear seats fold down), and the Ford Sync system is confusing.

pretty sure given their popularity in norway that they're eking out acceptable performance.

It's the same people who drove Lexus RXes like a decade ago and then moved on to Bangle-butt 7 serieses and then to various Audis. They are now Tesla drivers.
